What if Washington got Bedard

Created by: Connor_McJesus_97
Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 6, 2023
Published: Apr. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Gavrikov could be a solid replacement for Orlov. Otherwise I think getting rid of Mantha and just trying to go after a few free agents overall is the way to go and I see McMichael and especielly Lapierre getting bigger chances at becoming regular NHL players. No need to trade away any picks those gotta be saved for this upcoming rebuild. But that center core is nasty right now with Bedard.

I should add that potentially Kuz could be moved towards the wing instead of Strome and then Bedard would play in the 2C spot and Strome in the 3C spot.

While that would be awesome, it is more likely, however still unlikely, that they pick 8 and Michkov drops to them because teams are afraid of the Russian factor

1. Bedard would be great - I think Caps have a ~5% chance. That center pipeline would be nasty.
2. Caps won't sign defense as they are all set on both the right and the left (maybe a league minimum vet defender, like Irwin from this year, but that would be it).
3. Caps will either sign or trade for (probably the latter) a top 6 winger.
4. Backy is more of a 3c and Strome should play center, as he had a great year on the first/second line.
5. I don't see Lappy being ready for full-time NHL time this upcoming year. He had a up and down year in AHL, and is still very young/raw.
