They will make it work. They don't need to move out too much money.

Bruins sign him to a bridge deal of $3-$4mil for 2 years, which is when Ullmarks deal is up. Worst case scenario is that Ullmark is traded if it surpasses $4mil. The Bruins have 2 capable goalies in the AHL to back up Swayman if needed in that scenario. I don't see them trading the 24 year old who's capable of being a 1A.

We'll accept the Calgary first to take those two cap dumps off your hands and give you our 2024 third. And you don't even have to retain on one of them.

Even if Boston traded Swayman its highly unlikely that they would trade him within the division.

Half retained those 2 aren't cap dumps, especially not in the final year of their contracts, I would assume a playoff team would pick up either for a 3-5th rounder. I also assume that the Ducks were just a place holder team cause they are rebuilding and not likely going to be taking older players (this should have been communicated but whatever lol).

I wondered, you aren't usually the "these are cap dump players" type, usually you are pretty reasonable and logical.

It was the way the OP seemed to be treating them, with 50% retention on both and nothing going back. I thought I could play into that.

In what universe is Swayman worth a top 5 pick?

The universe where the Bruins don't want to trade their future franchise goalie. I think that's this universe. It's not whether he's worth that, it whether the Bruins would be willing to trade him for anything less than that.

Swayman was a Vezina candidate last season, he's sure worth a hell of a lot more than that garbage.

Yea but that pick has the chance of being Bedard or Fantilli so Montreal would never pay that for a goalie that could easily just not replicate this season.
