SJ doesn't do that EK trade. Detroit would need to add Albert Johansson or Wallinder in place of Buium. Detroit won't trade either of those two without a young top 6 center coming back.

I disagree sj takes a deal like that before you can think twice. They'd happily get that contract off the books and get something back for himnis only a bonus.

I really think EK stays put. Lots of risk. I personally like a previous proposal of Ek for Nurse, with each team eating salary.

Wings can spend 8m just a well on a player (despite EK's comeback season) and Wings keep their picks.

I'm sure Yzerman is eager to sell a fair fraction of the future for a 32 y/o

You mean a fair price? 3 time Norris winner, possibly 100 points with $14 mil in retention, yes a team will

Whole heartedly disagree. Karlsson is happy in San Jose, Grier has said he isn’t itching to move player of his caliber, he doesn’t want that much retention and quite frankly San Jose won’t be any good so there’s no reason to have to move out his contract as you suggest

They're rebuilding if someone gives them and idiot offer of 1sts and 2nds they have all the reasons in the world to take it.

You need to retain so much to even make taking him palatable but expect teams to pay extra for doing it on top of payi g an already outrageous amount for an older guy who's battles injuries for years. It's not appealing to teams.

He’s proven he is healthy and better than before, people still just love to hate on him clearly. A single 1st, two 2nds and a massively underperforming young player is not a great offer or some stupid offer like you suggest. That’s a steal

Dudes gonna be 33 and is having a career year but it's either he's so good teams can't offer sj enough for him or no one is will to pay some crazy price for him. Which do you think it is?

Zero chance of Yzerman ever giving up Wallinder or Berggren for Karlsson, You would have to retain 50% on Karlsson to get an ask like that. And Yzerman would still decline.

San Jose would gladly keep a 100 point defenseman then
