I can't imagine Minnesota wouldn't consider that Kuzy trade. Hartman and Foligno are both valuable assets for them, and adding a 1st in on top is far too skewed in favor of Washington.
Mantha has had great underlying defensive stats and I'd much rather keep him around and allow him a genuine chance under a new coach rather than deal him for Hoffman, a defensive liability and PP specialist.
I'd have to think both JvR and Fehervary will get more money, and replacing Alexeyev with Hagg would be an incredibly foolish mistake.
Hoffman's underlying numbers are as good or better than Mantha's
Hoffman - CF% 52.8, G/60 0.8, A/60 1.2, P/60 2.0, CF/60 56.6
Mantha - CF% 53.1, G/60 0.7, A/60 1.0, P/60 1.7, CF/60 58.2
So while Mantha is slightly better defensively than Hoffman, Hoffman isn't really as bad as you seem to think, plus he is slightly better offensively than Mantha so that offsets the defensive difference. Also Hoffman sees more ice time than Mantha so you can't even argue that Mantha plays more, Hoffman ATOI 15:40, Mantha 14:13.
