Description
This is what I would like to see to start next October. The most important change won't be on the depth chart, but behind the bench. I think Treliving unfortunately won't be extended, so a new GM will come in and hopefully hire Brunette, or someone else. Sucks they just extended Sutter, but a small price to pay. You can't have this many players regress so much and expect to stay around.

With the forward lines, I structured them like the Rangers, because I think they are in a similar ball park. Play the top 6 similar minutes, and the bottom 6 similar minutes. See how the kids do. If it's not working out, then bring in Ruzicka and Duehr and send them down to the AHL.

On defense, no one knows what happened to Shillington, so let's just assume he either stays out or is traded for picks/prospects. Stecher actually looked good so he gets extended. Else, Stone and Gilbert hang around.

For goalies, Vladar gets sent off to bring up Wolf. Package Vladar with Shillington or Rooney, bring back nothing of value.

This team is still great on paper, and you can't blow it up. Change the office and hope a new coach can make it work. There's no reason Huby and Lindholm can't tear up the League.

If they bring Lucic back im cheering for a different team. Loved the guy for the first 3 years he was here but watching him play this year was agonizing.

If they bring Stecher back it has to be fore more than 1 year. Can't keep adding to the same problem of all our defense are expiring in 2024

I understand the idea of imitating the Rangers but if you are trying to recreate the "kids line" it should be Ruzicka at center, not Zary yet.

Why are you trading Vladar and Kylington for zero value? Both have positive value

Sorry, by zero value I meant no roster players. They should definitely get some picks or prospects, maybe less so on Oliver after the no show this year (I'm sure he has reasons, just looking from a business perspective, you know)

I thought for sure Ruzichka and Scoronato had C before, but CapFriendly took it off. If either can play center well, then for sure put them in for Zary. I saw Ruzichka only play the wing this year in the games I watched at least. From my understanding Zary is the "worst" prospect they have, so no problem subbing him out

For Looch, I think a different coach would utilize him less and more effectively, which is what I'm banking on. In this lineup you'd likely have Duehr play on the 4th line more often. Still feel like you need a tougher guy if they put in Stecher over Gilbert. Don't want Kadri being that guy all the time, you know

Kylington was very missed this year. The offense he provides was huge for the team last year. I expect Calgary to trade out Vladar but I would be shocked if they move Shilly. Moving Rooney is pretty irrelevant, his cap hit when buried is very low.

Ruzicka* is a center, he's actually quite decent at it and will probably be a center long term for the team. I expect he will be the main stay 4C next year between Duehr and maybe Dube or someone else. Zary is by no means a bad prospect at all. In fact he's 1st in AHL production for players under 23. I would probably keep him down another year or at least promote him part way through the year if/when someone gets hurt. Coronato played center in the NCAA but I don't think he will translate to center at the NHL level, maybe the occasional faceoff but probably plays wing the majority of the time.

Calgary has Zadorov, Duehr, Ruzicka, Coleman, Weegar, and Dube. They don't need Lucic and they shouldn't bring him back. The team needs to heavily prioritize getting younger and faster. Sure loosing out on ~300 hits a season between Lucic and Lewis sucks but Duehr was on pace for 180 hits this year and Ruzicka has the size, and strength to be a more physical player too
