Description
- Blues take on another younger player that isn't really performing all too well in Roslovic, at the same time give defensive depth to Columbus who had a nightmare of dealing with it this season. Trade is assuming that Columbus snags a center (Bedard/Fantilli) or just wants to move on from Roslovic in general.

-Pittsburgh continues to shell out futures (albeit not really too high of importance ones) to try to stay competitive for the remainder of Crosby's career.

Of course these all have trade protection. Lets just assume that everything works out in regards to that.

Glendening could be a various number of 4Cs. Picked him due to his ability in the faceoff dot, and him being lefthanded. I don't think it matters much, would love Acciari back as well for a bit more money and term.

Still cap to upgrade 3RD, not sure if it's completely necessary though.

How is Scandella? I thought most blues fans considered him a cap dump

Not bad ideas. Feel like IF Jeff Carter waived to go to STL, he would ask to be bought out which for a 35+ contract, STL would still take his full $3.125M cap hit on 23-24. I like the idea of buying low on Roslovic, he sure has defensive lapses and cold streaks like most of STLs top 9. Worst comes to worst, he walks as a UFA. Ideally, this roster can sneak into playoffs. If not, UFA fire sale with Vrana/Kapanen/Roslovic/Blais/Bortuzzo.

Ok, nothing special. Would be an alright 3rd pair guy. Has an edge at times, but also at times for some reason jumps in the play way too much but has no offensive ability. When he's fully engaged he's a solid defensive minded guy. I'd imagine a different scheme that wouldn't promote trying to get offense from the defense would be helpful.

I don't think he has much value. But he's a guy that probably returns a 3rd or 4th at the deadline with retention due to being servicable. Moreso in here to even out cap to a degree, and he adds depth to an area where CBJ got decimated this year. Guy you can scratch or play and it's not going to be a nightmare either way of sinking the team or sinking a players value.

I'd imagine if he were fine with being healthy scratched it wouldn't be a big deal. He's not awful, but he's not great (Carter) had good faceoff numbers, i figured it was a safegaurd for Roslovic/Buch at center. Gives Pittsburgh a much more productive player who has alot of playoff success to help out with the latter years of the Crosby era to try and give them one last run.

I don't know if POJ ultimately becomes anything too useful. But it gives us a different look of a guy that with extended opportunity could possibly be a guy we keep going forward.

If we suck, worst case we have a bunch of options to sell at the deadline. I'm not entirely too high on Roslovic as I don't think he's much of a center, but then again I don't know if Buch is much of a center either so if one doesn't work out not a big deal

Jackets likely wouldn’t be interested. They need a shutdown top 4 LD for a year or two until their prospects are ready. They have plenty of bottom pair guys. They are probably better off trading roslovic at the deadline half retained for a second or third if they aren’t interested in re signing him

That's fair. Scandella could probably be used in that usage if you wanted. But i wouldn't trust it's going to be fantastic results, but it wont be a nightmare. It's essentially a low cost move for both teams to weather out the year of the contract and see if a different look helps at all. I added the 3rd from the Blues side mainly because Roslovic has provided scoring this season. I'm not sure of his value going forward, but if the Jackets do get a Bedard or Fantilli I'd imagine Roslovics scoring is going to drop a bit unless they keep him up higher in the lineup.

I guess with either play if a change needs to be made later in the season you can probably retain 50% and get back some value. I'm not sure if either really fetches much more than a 3rd though.

The value of the Pens trade is fine, but the main issue (as is with every other trade involving him) is the full NMC. There is no chance he's waiving for St Louis (no disrespect)

Unless he just has no desire to continue to play I’d doubt that’s true. Doug Armstrong usually has a very good relationship with Canadian players and brings a lot of them on for PTOs etc.

We’re probably one of the only spots too in which next season we could be battling for a top 5 pick or in a playoff race given their roster construction.

It’s certainly not gauranteed, but with Army at the helm I’d say no chance isn’t really true.
