Definitely a win for the Sabres. likelihood of a 3rd round pick even being an NHL player, versus a decent, young, potential top 4 puck moving D man with over 200 games of NHL experience.

Better be a precursor to something else for Habs' fans.
Better not be a precursor to Phaneuf for Bergevin's sake.

Can't understand how Shaw was worth two 2nds and Beaulieu is gone for a 3rd. Habs have been mismanaging their assets for too long. Even if this trade is a precursor to another trade, the value is just way too far off on this one.
Piss me off.

This is certainly a possible "worst trade of the year" candidate. Buffalo just robbed Montreal.

Self proclaimed Nate the Gr8, was a healthy scratch game 6 vs NYR.

He is a #5 with PP ability. 13-15 mins. Any more and he is exposed. He is inconsistent and lack the ability to make plays under pressure. He's soft between the ears and egotistical.

I am more than happy to have an asset of decent value for a free falling stock. Glad Bergevin had the foresight to make a move before he hits Tinordi fallout levels.

Lets be honest. Beaulieu's only real value was in a package as an RFA. Deal sweetener. 68th overall is good range for gem hunting. #GHG

he is an RFA and we wouldn't be able to protect him in the expansion draft. so instead of losing him for nothing, the habs at least got somthing out of it. but yea they could have gotten a bit more for him i think.

The Andrighetto trade and the Beaulieu trade, both bad, were made to set the team up better for expansion, supposedly. Yet here we are and losing AHL scoring phenom Charles Hudon to Vegas seems imminent.

The Coach must like him since he put him on the 1st pairing with Ristolainen. I don't think he stay's there cuz he's too inconsistent, but at least he's getting a shot unlike in MTL

It's 3 games in and he's still pulling the same crap as he did in Montreal, but you can see his ability to create and hopefully under Housley, he'll tighten up defenesively and really thrive offensively.

The guy can skate and he has good offensive awareness, but him trying to play defense is brutal at times

This was precisely why he is no longer in MTL. Just wanted to see if it was just Habs fans or if he really did have a penchant for bone headed plays in the D-zone.

I love looking at trades a few years down the line. Never cracked the top 4 and traded for a 6th a year later..

Oof. What a spicy take about a bottom pairing Dman that was set to be overpaid.
