Even if Seattle was looking to sign Jarry, there's no way they or anyone else would trade second and fifth round picks for just his UFA signing rights. Those aren't worth that much if anything at all, and any interested team could just sign him once free agency opens rather than hand the Penguins draft capital.

Hawks aren't taking on petterssons contract for a 4th. It'd probably cost a 1st considering he makes so much, has term, and has a NTC kicking in soon.

lol a 1st?!?! He was the pens best shutdown defenseman and on a friendly contract. You're insane. Pens shouldn't trade him in the first place but it would not cost the pens a 1st to move him lmao

Never said he was bad. The hawks aren't buying at all. So for them to take on almost 10 mil in cap for a player that only hurts their rebuild by helping them win games it'll cost a 1st. Trade him elsewhere if you think you can get any kinda value for him. And being the best shutdown defenseman on this pens team doesn't mean too much.

over 8m cash for remainder of contract.... in a rebuild its not necessary to take on this without being paid to do so.

Whats meant by the original comment is that Hawks can't take MP without being compensated as he holds no value for us and is in fact negative for us.

I think the Hawks might consider this. It's a little early in the rebuild to be thinking about "hockey" trades, but I like the idea of Pettersson on top pair w/ Jones a whole lot more than another year w/ bro Caleb. Hawks might ask for a 3rd instead of a 4th, but otherwise this seems to help both teams

It would be a fitting eff you send off for Carter, though, you’ve got to admit.

    Husso trade

Husso only fetched a third in return for the Blues, which is already more than any pending UFA that I've seen has returned in a deal. The article below is a bit outdated, but it does show that UFA signing rights, if they are traded, are usually for late-round picks, not a second plus.

Your math is horrid. He makes $4.025 against the cap per season. That's not very expensive, specially when the hawks have a bunch of AHL players making nothing. The salary cap is also going up over the next few season.

Still 8 mil with a ntc. No thanks. And like I said, hawks aren't buying. If you wanna pay a 1st for the 8 mil in cap space you're clearing up then they'll be happy to take him on and flip him at the deadline for a profit. Otherwise you can look elsewhere.
