Seabrooks contract is bad. Rangers just bought out 1 bad contract they prolly won't take another back. They could get Shattenkirk with lower cap hit than Seabrooks.

Except that Seabrook can still play. I love how people over value prospects and devalue players based on contracts. Does Nash suck because his isn't worth 7.8? Exactly.

No arguement that in 5 years Seabrook's contract is a scary prospect. He is currently a top pairing RHD however.

Except there is no indication that Stepan will drop off at any point in the next four years, and is currently one of the best defensive centers in the league. That trade is horribly tilted in Chicago's favour, especially since it is obvious that Seabrook is more expensive and on the decline. Besides, Nash has one year left on his contract and Seabrook has seven.
