They signed a future consistent 40 goal soccer under 8aav for 8 years.

Great deal

If he keeps improving, that is going to be a steal. No way should Suzuki be making as much as Caufield

Never seen a team ask as much for a rental as the Jets are asking for Helleybuck. a 29 year old rental doesnt return a top young player + multiple picks

I mean, If i'm Winnipeg, I'd ask for a 1st, good prospect +, Helly is an elite goalie on a good contract, he could easily carry a team through the playoffs, now totally different positions but I'd argue Winnipeg should try and get a Horvat-like return

The acquisition cost is one thing, it’s the contract extension that would scare me off. Evolving Hockey has him “projected” to an 8 year 9.008 AAV who would be 31 years old when that kicks in.

I mean we saw what Kuemper went for and Hellybuck's better

1st + conditional 3rd (Yotes got pick) + Timmins (At the time good D prospect and still is just not with the Yotes)

Probs would be like a 1st + 2nd + good prospect

If im Carolina im calling about Hellybuyck as they got the cap space, should be looking for a guy like this, and have the assets to make a deal and extend him

Carolina can offer them Rees/Suzuki + Honka/Heimosalmi + 30th overall + 2024 2nd which is probably more than fair. Wont get them much quality cuz hes a rental but its a good haul

I feel WPG gonna want one of Morrow, Niskinin, or Koivunen

If im Carolina im okay with giving up Koivunen. If they want Morrow I go okay but lower the 2nd to a 3rd.

As in the end you get a Vezina caliber goalie who may extend with the team and who could help them win old Stanley at the cost of a Dman u wont see for 2-3 years in the NHL and some low picks.

not for a 30 year old goalie with a year left. Koivunen maybe but not the other 2

Kuemper was the last starter available that offseason at the time of the trade. COL and I believe EDM were the last 2 teams looking for a goalie which drove the price up, he only cost that much cause the Avs were desperate

I mean look what Colorado gave for Kuemper. Hellebuyck is better and good goalies dont come cheap. Doesnt matter the age. There's gonna be a bidding war for him as look at the resume

Won the Vezina with a Dcore comprised of

Morrisey-Poolman
Kulikov-Pionk
Bietto-Sbisa
Beaulieu

Is able to play 50+ games

ETC

Or lets compare the two's seasons before a trade.

Kuemper when he was traded was 31 and had a 2.56gaa and a 0.907 sv in 27 games for the Coyotes. He got a 1st + 3rd + Timmins

Hellebuyck is 30 rn and through his season had a 2.49 gaa and a 0.920sv in 65 games for Winnipeg. Yea hes getting more than Kuemper easily.

Would not be surprised if someone gives a Horvat like package maybe even better.

But if we look this offseason whose on caliber with Hellybuck rn. Nobody

Lot of good backups and some good tandem guys but no actual starters.

A team like Carolina whose been tasting a cup but needs that final piece comes to mind immediately. Other teams like LA kings or Penguins also come to mind.

Not many goalies in todays age can carry a 50+ load he can or put up the numbers like him. Hes gonna get a kings ransom

I actually agree on your valuation of Hellebuyck I just wanted to give context for the Kuemper trade

There are quite a few starter quality G's that could be available though:

Hellebuyck
Hart
Demko
Saros
Jarry
Andersen
One of Swayman or Ullmark

one of them will be a Sabre, another will be a Penguin, a 3rd will be a Sens, another will be a Hurricane

I find it interesting how the Ducks hiring Greg Cronin as Head Coach ( former Avs AHL team’s coach ) seems to have gone unnoticed

Harts a starter but not on par with Hellebuyck. Hes competition but hes more likely to go to a team whose almost done their rebuild. (Buffalo maybe)

Saros and Demko aint going anywhere per recent reports. Preds said at TDL he was untouchable.

Jarry is to inconsistent. Penguins fans had him out the door before the season ended hes not a guy to carry a team through playoffs. Check the NYI giveaway for playoffs. Hes a good tandem guy but true starter nah.

Andersons injury prone and old now and way to inconsistent. Nice tandem guy but at this point not a true starter anymore.

Only competition on that list is Linus Ullmark but with Boston's situation would not be surprised if they sell low. But WPG really has no reason to trade Hellebuyck. They can just extend and keep him around unless a team goes **** we need here's this package.
