One year of retooling

Created by: OkMan

Description
This is how I would go about a retool.

Carrier Trade:
BUF could use another RD. I know Fabbro would probably be the better fit as a D-man, but I'd prefer to keep him around in Nashville. Carrier has had one solid year of offense; however, he had quite the rough start to the year. His offense has picked up since. He's got an active stick, and he can be solid 2-way presence.

Barrie Trade:
SEA doesn't have the power play of a contender. Barrie can help change that. His offensive gifts have shown through during his time in Nashville, and he's been very solid defensively. I've been thrilled with him as a player, but I can't see him staying here. This trade sends Barrie to a real contender, and he can take them to the next level.

Johansen-Ehlers Trade:
I don't love the idea of Johansen taking up one of our top 9 center spots for the next 2 season, so I dealt him. We bring in a winger that can score and bring our offense back to life. Trading the 1st helps force an end to the retool after one year. I think the value works out for the jets well and bringing in another C paves the way for a PLD trade of Scheifele leaving.

Draft:
15OA - David Reinbacher
26 OA - Quentin Musty

Carrier would not be worth a second from buffalo in my opinion. We need bigger, defensive d, we have the offensive stuff covered with dahlin and power. If the Sabres were to have interest in Carrier, it would have to be pretty cheap.

I think Carrier can provide you the defensive game, at times his has looked better than Fabbro’s, but he may not have the size your for. Him and Fabbro seem pretty interchangeable in terms of who gets traded this summer though. I think we’re gonna shed one of them
