I mean, that Norris trade is interesting and only works if a 1C or 2C were acquired (cap concerns over having over 26 million at center). But, Norris is still a gamble, especially now that he has had some injury concerns. Sure he had 30 goals last year, but he isn't ppg, and he had 2 goals and 1 assist this year before getting hurt (8 games). Not exactly the return on investment the Sens expected.
I'm not saying Norris is a bust, but I really think his contract is pretty out of line right now. The return from Detroit is better than it appears. Berggren is a very good offensive player, probably good for 20-30 goals and 30-50 assists. Soderblom is a gimmick that will take several years to see what he is...Zadina needs a change of scenery and could be a Nichuskin type story. Plus a 2nd.
Basically, it boils down to Yzermanbetying that Norris has a much higher ceiling. Norris is undoubtedly the best player in the deal today, but Berggren should minimally get pretty close to Norris's production levels the last 2 seasons. I'd chalk this trade as bad for both teams right now, buy it could be a win for everyone too.
