There is no need to get Swayman, Gibson Dostal will be an excellent tandem provided the defense in front of them can even be considered AHL instead of the beer league talent that was on the ice this season. That is also way to much to give up for a goalie when there are much more glaring issues elsewhere on the roster.

I'm going to disagree with Manson on Carlo, I'd love to get him, but I don't see why Boston lets him go. I previously proposed Lundestrom and Vaakainen for Carlo and Reilly as a trade, seemed to be considered fair on both ends, but Boston doesn't have any RHD depth after the top 2.

I might do the Leafs deal, but I can't see why they do, he is performing very well on that minimum deal, he is the kind of player cap strapped teams keep around, at least until they need a raise.

Most importantly though, Keep Bunting the hell away from this team, he is not a top line talent, and he is a liability on the ice!

Oooh look, Corey Perry reuiniun tour, shiny.

@GiggywithGibby, We just can’t see eye to eye I guess. Maybe I didn’t state this clearly, but I really think Carlo would help us, (in the short term). I just don’t see why we have a need to trade Gaucher for someone who will help us for 1-2 years.

Between Luneau, Warren, I.Moore, and Helleson, we don’t need a RHD.

Helleson is the only guy close to ready out of that group, Moore, Warren, and Luneau are still a year away from the AHL (assuming Moore doesn't NCAA FA himself). I think its a minimum of three years before any of those group are ready for the NHL, and that's on the assumption that they make it (I obviously hope they do, but prospects flame out all the time). As Warren and Luneau were only taken last year, that's the whole depth chart. We are just not that deep at RHD, hence why I focused on that in the prospects I took in the other ACGM.

We need a defensive RD for Fowler now, and in the future Carlo would be a perfect pairing partner for a guy like Zellweger or helping Mintyukov adapt to the speed of the NHL before we pair him with Drysdale. We also have Dostal's development to consider, we can't keep fielding a motley crue of whoever we can get for spare parts and not expect the same results as this year.

I agree there is no need to send Gaucher, and I think Boston would need someone more established than him, hence where I base the trade at Lundestrom and Vaakainen for Carlo and Reilly. Gives them an established, defensive middle 6 C on a cheap deal and under team control, a cheap depth piece familiar with their system in Vaakainen, they shed the cap from Reilly, but the big piece they give up is Carlo.

I get that. I just think the price for Carlo would be too sweet for my liking. I’d prefer trading some picks from this year instead of Lundy or Gaucher.

I get that, but we're talking about a top 4 shutdown RHD in the right age range. We're going to have to give in order to get.

Boston also does not care about picks right now, they are desperately trying to stabe off a rebuild and hold the window open, they need young and cheap roster players with upside. We've got an excess of centers, which is also what they need.

I'm a fan of Lundestrom, but we have an embarrassment of riches at Center and we really need a guy like Carlo. I'd also love to see Lundy get a shot at being a 2nd line center and see his point production break out, and he won't be able to do that here.
Manson liked this.

I kinda disagree with every single assertion here:
1. Money can be moved around. It’s Jeremy swayman. He’s a priority. If its a choice between ullmark and swayman, swayman stays.
2. Ullmark and hall are definitely not untradable. Hall has a 10 team no trade list, 15 no trade list for ullmark. That’s nowhere close to impossible to work around.

I'll disagree about Hall and Ulllmark. Why would teams any team want to take on Hall for 6m X 2? He can easily put down 10 teams with have cap in Ullmark's case 15 teams, and gee I can't think of others teams that could take on their full cap.

Meh, he's easily replaceable, unless you're Ron Hextall it is super easy to bring in great defensive bottom 6ers that don't provide much offense (like Gaucher likely projects to be)

Uh not sure if you noticed but defensively reliable centres are a premium asset in the NHL. Its easier to draft guys that can produce offense than it is to get defensive-minded forwards who play at an NHL level all around
