Barron likely is not part of a package Montreal would be willing to give up.

Could not think of a quicker decline from Detroit than that.

Feels like the Avs one is the only one a non-Jets team would consider. The Wings and Kings ones look particularly lopsided.

I think there's definitely a scenario where Montreal would move Barron in a Dubois trade, i just doubt that trade would include Florida's 1st.

I'd say the Avs would definitely have to consider that.

Maybe if Pionk was coming back as well?

I don't think the Habs are tied to Barron so much as they are to having an offensive RHD who can play a 2way game under team control for a few years.

I could see a PLD + Pionk deal including Barron as a part of the return.

would we want a 26 and to be 30 year old when our team isn't ready to win?
Value wise, this is closer, but just isn't the right age for our team.

Pionk doesn't fit with the window Montreal is aiming for, when Zuke and CC are 25-27 Pionk will be 29-32 and we should have a better RD by then.

By that logic, you recommend the Habs trade Matheson?

I can pretty much guarantee Cheveldayoff isn't going to give Montreal an extra year on PLD's contract.

Eventually he will be gone before we are ready to compete, yes.

I don't think a 29-32 year old Pionk is a hindrance to competing. Especially the way he plays.

Pionk doesn't make much sense for Montreal and there starts to be a serious cap issue.

KC I would take all day for picks as he is an established goal scorer. I value the 9th pick as what can it bring. Can the Wings get a guy better than Connor. 9 being (Moore, yager, Barlow, Wood?). With 18, need based. Maybe another goal scorer, an RD, a third top C prospect.

Obviously it was an over reaction to the wings sending Cossa, pick 9, pick 17-18 for a guy who is 27 that has a career high under 40 points lol. But I think my offer makes more sense than OP’s as it raises questions on both sides. This one is simply a WIN says yes and DET declines.

I don't see why you would trade for him in the first place with Barron and Mailloux already here, Barron's ppg pace this year was .38 Pionk's was .40. I would rather have the younger, cost controlled player with the higher upside than making that trade.

Age for goalies doesn't really follow trends like it does with skaters and Ehlers has missed 57 games in the last 2 seasons. I'm not saying I take the trade but I do think it's closer with Conners and Hellebuyck than it is with Ehlers.

I like ehlers a bunch but that's just too much. He's a 25 goal 60 pt winger I'm not giving multiple 1sts and a high prospect for that.

Meh. I suppose. Obviously, it would be a present upgrade; but will it matter? I think it'll just bring our team from mediocrity to being good; but not fighting-for-the-cup good.
I think it's best to try and keep the age similar across the team. Yes, it means it creates a lot of issues when they age-out, but the glory years are magnificent and long.

I am here for the long haul. Wing fans of my age are lucky, as we caught the tail end of despair, dominance, sustainability, and now the rebuild again.

In regards to this trade, it is 9, 17, and Cossa (15) that represent 3 first round picks, which two are possibly used for (Oliver Moore / Colby Barlow / David Reinbacher / Brayden Yager / etc.). My whole point is that N. Ehlers who hasn't topped 40 points isn't worth that return. If the Jets (trade proposal) want this return, it is closer in value for what I am suggesting.

Oliver Moore+Colby Barlow+Sebastian Cossa for Nikolaj Ehlers

Olver Moore+Colby Barlow+Sebastian Cossa for Kyle Connor+ Connor Hellebuyck

MTL depth at RHD is already thin, I think Barron would be a non-starter in the negociation.
