Flames want Liljegren

Otherwise replace the 5th with Timmins

Wow, what a severe overpay for one year of Tanev, who the Leafs don't need. For 2.25m, the Leafs easily resign Holl or Schenn, and keep their picks.

When Healthy, Tanev >> Holl or Schenn

Tanev is the Superior & Faster Skater and can keep up too and Shut Down the Opposition’s Star Players, making Schenn or Holl look like Pylons by comparison

Well that's like saying, McDavid is better than Kampf, so the Leafs should go trade for him too. Tanev isn't worth that to the Leafs or any team Gee, why do Flames fan think their Dmen are so valuable? Andersson, Hanifan, Weeger, certainly are better than Tane, and where has got the Flames.?

Don't overpay for Tanev with a year left. The Flames will likely run it back next year and hope their guys bounce back meaning they expect to complete, Tanev is their most complete defender and they won't move him unless there is a severe overpay like this which would be unrealistic for a team to pay. He will likely be available at a good price after next season to fill in a Giordano type role

Whether doing the Trade makes sense for the Leafs or not is different than me saying Tanev is Greater than using Liljegren, Holl or Schenn

Andersson & Weegar had perfectly fine years. Hanifin was decent, but Tanev was injured all season and didn't have his regular partner in Kylington

Aside from that, the Flames issue was having a Terrible Schedule, Inconsistent Goaltending, A Lack of Scoring and Bad Puck Luck

Huberdeau and the Flames will be much better next season, I guarantee it

Key phrase when healthy, both Schenns and Holl are always healthy, Tanev I like and I really like 27/28 year old Tanev 33 year old Tanev reaks of LTIR

Flames fans are going to awfully disappointed when Tanev, Hanifan, Toffelli, LInholm and Backlund don't get nearly the return that so many Flames seem to think they are worth. I guarantee it.
Hard to believe Tanev was better than Schenn this year or even Liljegren.

a) A Leafs fan suggested this ACGM
b) Flames d were not the problem this season

I like you @palhal, but your Huberdeau prediction and assessment of the Flames and their Players values is not correct

Yes, even playing hurt all year, Tanev is much better than both Holl & Schenn

Schenn is just a big goon who you guys are using correctly, as a 3rd Pairing D-Man, cause that’s all he is. It wasn’t too long ago he was playing in the AHL, but he rebounded in VAN, mainly playing with Quinn Hughes

Holl is just okay. His Physicality and Offence help offset his mistakes and average defence, but he’s not a Playoff performer and hasn’t stepped up or played as well in the Playoffs at all

Liljegren is very good but young and inexperienced. Clearly TOR doesn’t trust him, hence why he’s a Healthy Scratch

I probably wouldn’t Trade Liljegren either, but if you want one of the Best Defenders in the League to get you further in the Playoffs, then Tanev’s your guy and you gotta pay a premium to get guys like that

The key though is Tanev being healthy and seeing if he’ll sign a Team Friendly deal to play 1-2 more years in TOR like Giordano did, but that just comes down to negotiations and performing a physical as a condition and part of your due diligence

I'm actually a fan of this IF the 1st is conditional on Tanev playing at least 50 regular season games, Toronto making the playoffs, and playing at least 50% of Toronto's playoff games. Otherwise it's a 2nd.

Tanev, even at 33, would be fantastic for our D core. Certainly worth the risk, even if the value is a little in favor of Calgary.

Conditional to Tanev playing 25-40+ Regular Season Games, sure, but the rest would be up to TOR

25 games is far too little, even 40 is hard to stomach. Also, if we don't make the playoffs or if Tanev is injured, this trade is worthless to us.
