Here are my top GM candidates. I would get a president of hockey ops and GM, unless we get Dubas. In that case I'd give him 100% full control. Let me know what you guys think and any choices you like. Dubas is my top choice for sure, probably Darche next, and then the rest are pretty even (like all of them).
Trades
1.
PIT
Kyle Dubas
TOR
Top candidate imo. Would give him full control of hockey ops
2.
PIT
Jason Botterill
SEA
Really like him, think he did a good job in Buffalo and the trades turned out to help them a lot. Good eye for talent too
3.
PIT
Steve Greeley
DAL
Really like how Dallas is built and think he has a great eye for talent as well
4.
PIT
Mathieu Darche
TBL
Tampa is great at making stars. Getting talent in later rounds that turn into stars or great players
5.
PIT
Emily Castonguay
VGK
Very good negotiator and has apparently done extremely well as an agent
6.
PIT
Ray Shero
NJD
History here speaks for itself, but he'd be a great president of hockey ops partnered with a GM
this isnt directed at you or anything, just an in general thought, but i just find it incredibly amusing how in demand Dubas suddenly is now that he might maybe could be available to other teams after so many years of the hockey internet calling him awful

Yeah I mean I think he's good. I think he's built a very good team in Toronto, for some reason they just cannot win in playoffs. On paper it's a cup contender for sure
Tulsky in CAR needs added in this mix, he may be the favorite honestly.
He's solid. I dont love some parts about how the Canes are built and some of their moves recently, but he's still very knowledgable. Wouldn't be one of my top choices, I like the one's above a little better. But certainly he deserves an interview and should be considered based on what his vision/plan for this team would be.

yeah, dont believe most people when they talk about his playoff issues, for the most part it's just been running up against really good team. The only real failure all around was columbus in the mutant covid season. They still should have won against montreal, but losing tavares 30 seconds into the series and Matthew's wrist being at like 15% on top of price going nuclear isnt anything he could control.
