no but it would be such a hilarious bit if he got dealt right before his contract and NMC kicked in.

Obviously terrible for the player but i wonder if its ever happened.

I know skinner has been rejuvenated. But that contract has the potential to be just as bad forgetting the past 2 years of course

I said it would be hilarious if he (in this context pretty clearly talking about horvat) got dealt right before his contract (and by extension NTC) STARTED. Not even calling it a bad deal, calling the circumstances awkward. And then I wondered if that situation has ever happened before.

Skinner is into year 5 of his deal. What does that have to do with anything from my original ask?

Horvat cashed in on an obviously unsustainable scoring heater to land an overpriced contract. Would be a terrible idea to take this deal. Also Ottawa is set down the middle

Don't see Horvat wanting to play in Ottawa.

Plus the islanders with their current contract situation is crashing and burning, Very doubtful that Cat wants to play on Long island.

P.K. Subban (MTL to NSH) and Jeff Carter (PHI to CBJ) are both huge examples of that.

Subban was traded summer of 2016, his first year of his big contract stated in the 14-15 season. So it had already kicked in.

Carter is a good catch though

No, while the contract had already kicked in, Subban was still in his RFA years and therefore not eligible for trade protection before the 2016-17 season.

The reason the Sens would want to trade DeBrincat is get cap space, not to gain more with Horvat long term.
