I can't see anyone paying that much for the rights to try and sign a player. A 4th or 5th maybe, a roster player? No chance.

With Winnipeg's difficulties signing UFA's a few days won't matter, so they should just wait. If he wants to sign, he will, if he doesn't, he won't

Stan is gone, if that means that Severson will sign, who cares

CHI declines. I'd rather just hang onto Raddysh and/or trade him at next years TDL for picks. Yegor and Chase aren't very interesting, IMO.

These are some very strange trades, and not particularly necessary. Where does Nemec slot in after this year if we keep Graves?

Probably a little light for Bennett unless they have got bullish view on Walsh (he is a favorite of the fancy stat crowd). Byron Bader has had him among the highest rated prospect dmen for a while (top-5 for “star probability”). He is a good two-way dman and can punch above his weight class physically. Just blocked in Jersey.

And yeah, too much for Raddysh….but I needed something to get under cap.

Could flip Yegor and Stillman for more/better picks. This was a cap move.

Bahl should be playing. He's been really, really good. Graves is too expensive to play on the third pair when we could use that money elsewhere.

    2023-24

    Siegenthaler -- Hamilton
    Graves -- Marino
    Bahl - Hughes
    Smith - Walsh

    2024-25

    Siegenthaler -- Hamilton
    Hughes -- Marino
    Graves -- Nemec
    Bahl -- Walsh

    2025-26

    Siegenthaler -- Hamilton
    Hughes -- Marino
    Bahl -- Nemec
    (Walsh, Vilen, Edwards, Hurtig, etc)

I'd be fine if it gets a little crowded back there...probably need 7-8 NHL caliber dmen these days.

And if he is playing PK, he is probably getting top-4 minutes anyway even if he is listed on 3rd pair.

There's not a chance in hell you get Graves on a two year deal

Probably right...imagine he would get 4-5 year offers.

But I do think we should find a 1-2 stop-gap option that can play top-4 while kids develop.
Not sure who that is though.

    Sieg -- Ham
    Luke -- Marino
    Bahl -- Walsh

...too much a gamble for me.

Yeah. Losing Graves and Severson all at once has the potential to set NJD back a bit.

Definitely…while Hughes and Nemec will likely be good replacements in long-term, expecting both to jump in and fill those shoes is a stretch. Which is why I am for extending Severson…then trading someone once Nemec pushes them off the roster.
