Thats if it isn't a 2024 first between 20-32 then Calgary 2024 first gets transferred

Right, as per the Flames pick condition, is it a reasonable offer?

Yeah its reasonable just don't see the reason to trade young assets and a 1st for a rhd who's already 29 and a goalie who is 34 with a massive cap and term left. Just seems to do the opposite of what mtl would do

It's a fair price sure but I don't see the reason either team does it. Bob is 34 with term and cap on his deal and Montour is 29 and doesn't really fit the timeline. Trading away a first young dman and a capable fringe starter goalie seems to just avoid being patient and just makes the team older and more competitive (albeit probably not enough to make the playoffs)

Bob is the price to pay to get value on Montour, I assume the price would be much higher without Bob in the deal. Montour is a sort of stopgap/vet D to allow for Mailloux, Barron and whatever RD we draft in the 2023 draft. Also Bob is overpaid but is still a decent 1B option to help bring Monty along while we continue to look for a future starter. The cost is cap hit but with Price on LTIR for the duration of the Bob contract it is basically a wash. I agree patients should be the focus, also had other moves in mind but wanted to test this one out first

Habs aren't taking on Bobrovsky, even if Montour is the second coming of Mark Giordano.
