Durzi reminds me a bit of Stillman before his trade to BUF. System change to the Sabres may do him wonders although he's so bad defending the rush It'd just make fans rip their hair out lol

uhhh, doubtful. Walker is a 3rd pair d-man, petersen is an anchor. That pick winds up being 23rd or something like that.

Its a good idea when you are starting a rebuild. A head scratcher if you are trying to make the playoffs.

The Kings will not pay to dump Cal Petersen. They'll bury him in the AHL for a season and buy him out next summer.

Fair point. Just think a free 1st shouldn’t be passed up when we have almost $20M in cap they won’t spend.

They wont spend it because there's an internal cap and the trade/FA market is kinda bleak. I get the logic, but that pick has a 15% chance of maybe being a top 6 fwd/top 4 dman 3 years from now at best. Just doesnt really help them anymore.

Totally agree that the Pegulas are pushing an internal cap. They could still do this in theory to bury Cal Petersen and flip walker and the 1st for a top 4 RHD. They will have enough cap to accommodate if they were willing to do so.

Just a smart way to acquire a need by using cap space and not existing assets.

Eh their cap is tight if they want to keep all of Vilardi, Korpisalo, and Gavrikov.

If they knew for sure they could flip for a legit top 4 RHD that would be worth while. Just have hard time seeing walker + a late first doing that.

They won't keep Gavrikov. He has already said he wants to test UFA and he's going to get too much money. Wouldn't pay him north of $4.5M even if the Kings weren't cap strapped.

Yikes CBJ won that trade hard then.

I said as much at the time.

Although it's not a huge loss if Korpisalo re-signs to a reasonable extension. He has been really good so far and shored up the Kings single biggest position of need. Steep price to pay, especially if the Kings don't get out of the 1st round.

Why are you giving away Durzi for free?

Cap space and redundant skillset when Spence and Clarke are in the pipeline.

I'd imagine you could still get a lot more for him
