Bouchard isn’t signing that, and zero reason for Buffalo to get Harris. Tuch would just be a whatever feelings guy trade. Buffalo would rather just keep their picks

Zero chance the Jets add to PLD, or wait 3 drafts for the only piece of significant value. PLD is traded elsewhere if Montreal's offer is this pitiful. It's way too easy to beat by at least half the league.

I might have thought about Buffalo for a split second there but sure let's go crazy about a 2nd rounder for an analytics darling like Jordan Harris that can move the puck and is one of the better penalty kilers in the league, Buffalo certainly doesnt need that eh?!?
Tuch is a 2nd round pick with stunted development despite this [url=https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/montreal-canadiens-news-luke-tuch-usa-world-championship-juraj-slafkovsky-ahl-laval-joshue-roy-playoffs-canada-united-states[/url]

Buffalo could use Harris. They have pretty much no defensive depth, and Harris is probably better than Bryson, Clague or Stillman already along with fitting the core age range. He'd solidify the left side for the long term especially if Johnson walks himself to UFA.

The Sabres don't need to "solidify the left side." Dahlin is a lefty playing on the right, both Samuelsson and Power are lefties as well. Dahlin and Power are offensive d-men who control both PP units, none of the three are over 23 yrs. old and it looks like all three will be signed long term in the not too distant future.

And Luke Rich isn't a need either.

I mean he's kinda cheap, i'd call him Luke Bargain

You need to dress more than 3 D btw. harris is much better than any option you have and plays both sides. You cant say dahlin plays both despite being a lefty and not same the same for Harris in 1 breathe it makes your arguments look cheap no pun intended

You don’t pay a high second in a deep draft for a guy who will never play above the 3rd pair. Buffalo doesn’t need him, and would never play over Dahlin, Samuelsson or Power.

In case you missed it, the 3rd pairing got caved in on a regular basis this season. Players like Bryson and Clague not only were terrible in their own end, but they played higher up the line-up for portions of the season due to injuries as well. If you think running back Bryson, Clague and Stillman is a better option then you're delusional. What does Power and Dahlin controlling the PP units have to do with getting a solid young 3rd pairing LD anyway? Harris doesn't even play on the PP, he's used 5v5 and kills penalties.

30 goals allowed in a 5 home game stretch which was worse than their expansion days. Dahlin-Samu-Power dont play the full 60 mins. Fully agreed.

You're right, lets keep saving those draft picks for a player who MIGHT make the NHL in 4 years, instead of getting one who is young and already shown himself to be AT LEAST a 3rd pairing Dman. Sergachev was a 3rd pairing defenseman for years also, guess he was a waste for Tampa.

The Mtl should keep both since they’re obviously great and it’s not like the Canadians roster is set to the point they can give young great players away for measly second rounders. To quote yourself “you can’t say in one breathe that Buffalo could use these young players while Montreal couldn’t. Makes your argument look cheap.”

You sound hurt. Geez at least be clever. And no they are at a surplus. The Habs D prospects are full in case u missed it its a rebuild where they are trying to fit young players with playing time. Buffalo last i checked wanted to contend. The Habs dont for another 3-5 years.
That is called a contention window. Buffalo has its window and Mtl has theirs.

Man if this isn’t just an apples to orange comparison. First rounder with top pairing upside vs a 3rd rounder with middle pairing upside (also Sergachev is 24 now, Harris will be 23 this year. You think he’s got Sergachev upside? Then why would Mtl make the same mistake again, especially for a measly second rounder?)

Hurt? No. See Buffalo’s need for more defensive depth? Yeah. Think it can be achieved in a better way than a 3rd pairing guy for pick 40? Yeah. Glad we got there

having Bergevin & Fletcher as GMs in the same division is entirely too chaotic for this world too handle

You don’t pay a high second in a deep draft for a guy who will never play above the 3rd pair. Buffalo doesn’t need him, and would never play over Dahlin, Samuelsson or Power.

His average time on ice at even strength was almost 18 minutes a game, thats usually an amount a 2nd pair guy gets. Also he plays both sides and wouldnt need to play over those 3 guys since the top 4 needs...well...4 guys.

So the plan would be to play him with Power then. I just don’t see that happening, and Buffalo won’t be curtailing the top 3s minutes i wouldn’t think. I’m not calling him bad fwiw, I’m saying his deployment on Buffalo would be 3rd pairing most likely.

I actually think they would be curtailing their minutes. They played ALOOOT. Like I knew that but when i saw the numbers it was actually absurd and there's a very real injury risk when you do that. Im not saying they will do it by much but, maybe just enough so that their legs stay fresh for the playoffs.

Harris is young, cost controlled and effective. Sounds like what would be right up their alley. They would be playing him with either power or Dahlin. You could probably find a fit either way. I'd lean Dahlin and try Harris with Power but Im indifferent. I dont think his deployment would be third pair. I think they genuinely like Stillman/Jokiharju-Lyubushkin moving forward. Harris has top 4 upside

I never said he had first pairing upside. Clearly you completely missed the point of young Dmen playing lower in the pairings than they might be suited for. Harris on the 3rd pairing as a player who could reasonably be expected to be a 2nd pairing type of Dman is a good thing, yet you continue to paint it as him being un-needed . Dmen get injured in the NHL, Sabres dmen get injured A LOT. You need players who can play further up in those roles, and Harris is a player than can do that. As for why Montreal trades him, I don't believe they actually will, but they have a lot of LD prospect depth.

Did you miss how Buffalo allowed 300 goals against? Power, Samuelsson and Dahlin are great, but can you really say they don't need to upgrade their 3LD and 2RD? pushing down guys like Jokiharju and Stillman/Bryson/Clague would help reduce that 300 goals allowed number.

The Sabres aren't giving up a second and a third for a bottom pairing d-man and a forward with 4th line upside. Talk aboot delusional. They can pluck those types of players on the FA market.

You can try to defend it all you want, but it ain't happening.
