Description
Just adding a note here that the OS threasholds have increased as per Freidman (I do not believe an OS will come just pointing it out)

Offer sheet compensation is based on the league’s average salary, and as Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports, this year’s thresholds have increased a little more than two percent. Below is the full breakdown, with the contract’s average annual value placing it in one of seven tiers:

$1,415,740 or less No compensation
$1,415,741 to $2,145,061 Third-round pick
$2,145,062 to $4,290,125 Second-round pick
$4,290,126 to $6,435,186 First and third-round picks
$6,435,187 to $8,580,250 First, second and third-round picks
$8,580,251 to $10,725,314 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks
Over $10,725,314 Four first-round picks
It is important to note that any team trying to sign a player to an applicable offer sheet must use their own draft picks for compensation, not ones that have been acquired.

That rules several teams out already from signing high-profile RFAs unless they were to work to reacquire their picks before submitting the contract. An offer sheet’s average annual value is also calculated slightly differently than a standard contract; if the contract is of a length greater than five years, the total salary is still divided by five to determine the AAV.

That would mean a seven-year contract worth $8MM per season would carry an AAV of $11.2MM for the purposes of offer sheet compensation.

Yeah and for those reasons especially with the term one which I didn't know if why a Dubois os is just so extra when a trade could be more beneficial for all parties involved

The only way an OS makes any sense here is if trade talks break down like they did between the Canes and Habs with regards to KK. Even then I don't know if I would go that route since the 2024 draft is RHD heavy and we need RHD

Never going to happen my friend, even if PLD signed that, Winnipeg would instantly match just out of spite and while it walks him to FA they still come out ahead knowing they had one more run with PLD before the core broke up. Believe me, a shot at the cup (or any championship) is worth more for owners and teams in cashflow than a measly 4.2 mil OS ridiculousness. Teams make an average of 1.5-3 mil per game profit just for the regular season now factor in the playoffs and teams can make in the range of 5-8 mil per game. It is ridiculous to think they care about 4 mil over an entire year!

Just to add to my comment above Montreal makes about 239 million per year divide that by 82 games and it works out to about 2.9 mil per game, the Jet make 149 mil per year that works out to about 1.8 mil per game. That means it would literally take the Jets 2.5 games to make back the OS money or 1-2 playoff games. I don't think they are worried about matching a 4 mil OS just to lose him in FA.

remember though the dubois offer sheet is for one year only and that screws winnipeg so that is why he will get moved they cant risk it... more teams have cap space at the draft and they want picks in this years draft so dubois will move soon.... winnipeg should get eliminated soos and then chevy can work on the dubois trade.... plus if bos knocks out flo then we know that pick is 17overall and appealing to chevy

with their poor playooff run this year chevy sees the writing on the wall... he has sheifele and helleybuck and dubois to move... sheifele has had enough too and he wont re-sign and what if helleybuck says the same thing... time to rebuild and this is a great draft to get it started
