Lightning decline. If they do end up having to trade Colton, they definitely get better offers than 1 for 1 for Yegor

I wouldn’t put him in unless it was to replace smith but you can’t play him with Walsh because both are youngsters

Is Colton worth more or something? I can't imagine he is. The reason Tampa declines is this trade does nothing to help their cap situation, which is the whole reason they'd trade Colton in the first place.

If Colton is willing to take less than $2.5m a year, then Tampa resigns him. If he wants more then maybe he gets moved. Yegor won't get more than $2m max on his next deal - probably less. And yes, Colton is worth more. 46 goals over last 2 seasons playing mostly 3rd line minutes w/ minimal PP time. And a non stop motor. Never takes a shift off.[/quote]

Heh.

1 - Sharangovich isn't getting a pay cut.

2 - Colton has 38 goals over the last two seasons, dude. If you include playoffs, it's 44, No idea how you got 46.

Sharangovich has 37 goals (and five more points than Colton) over last 2 seasons playing mostly 3rd line minutes w/ minimal PP time, a non stop motor and he never takes a shift off. And he's two years younger.

There’s no way either guy gets less than 3 per on a 3-4 year deal

Yup, which means Tampa will struggle to find cap for either of them. They have four guys starting extensions with raises, plus Jeannot, plus four UFAs... and as of today, have less than 2.5M in cap space to spend. Tamps would deal him for picks or prospects, not another guy up for a raise they can;t give.

Tampa has over 9 million in cap space heading into next year. Colton isn't getting moved unless they choose to keep Killorn over him. They'll keep Colton, Jeannot and Eyssimont, and trade for or sign a cheap 3LD and one bottom 6 F. They can get to just over 10 million in room if they trade Myers and Fleury as well. Cap will be tight, but they won't have any problem keeping Colton. Ifvthey value Killirn more, they'll trade Colton and sign Killorn(who clearly wants to stay in Tampa if at all possible and would likelybrake a discount to finish his career with them).

They currently have 9.25 million available with 15 players under contract and Myers costing 275k buried. They trade Myers and Fleury, and they'll have just over 10 million to sign 7 guys, or moving Myers only, 9.525 for 6. They'll keep one of Colton or Killorn(ir maybe both if Paul gets moved instead), Jeannot and Eyssimont will be cheap, a low cost 3LD and then 1-2 of the more than deserving Syracuse guys. Most likely Perry, Bellemare and Cole are gone. Plenty of names for 3LD and possibly one more bottom 6 F, either via trade at the draft or in ufa. Not sure where you're getting 2.x million in space, unless you're counting Seabrook's ltir hit in there. In any case, while it will be a tight fit, and Tampa will have to start with 21, they won't have to trade anyone due to lack of space.

Hmm. Maybe the CF chart isn't counting LTIR for next season yet. In any event, it's going to be tight and trading Colton for Sharangovich won't change that, which was my main point.
