Hutson has potential to be a star but he also has a high chance at being a complete bust. Clarke is a significantly more of a sure thing so no chance LA does this

LA would decline now IMO, but maybe in a few years.

Hutson may turn out to be as good offensively or perhaps even a little better than Clarke, but it's hard to see how Hutson will be as good defensively.

It will be interesting to see if there's something involving Jordan Spence or Helge Grans and Jordan Harris or Arber Xhekaj this summer. (Frankly, I don't see either Kaiden Guhle or Lane Hutson in play.) The teams clearly need to swap a RhD (Los Angeles) for a LhD (Montreal).

One of the rare trades I would accept for Hutson. However we do decline if we end up drafting Reinbacher

If I had to bet on one, it would be Clarke. But if I had to root for one, it would be Hutson. Lane played very well this year, especially as PP QB, but Hockey East was fairly weak this year. And Clarke is playing professionally.

Think Durzi for Matheson 50% retained could make sense for both teams? Durzi is younger and under team control for longer, but Matheson is better and would be your 2LD for the next 3 seasons at 2.5M

VERY tempting. And realistically foreseeable, too.

About Clarke for Hutson, I think Habs are taking that deal based on the LHD/RHD balance they have. One of the rare offer I would consider for Hutson.

I personally wouldn't do it if I'm running the Habs.

I just dont get why both team want to do this, like it's just better to stick to our prospect

I like Clarke, but it's just a weird trade tho

Durzi played 4 years with Suzuki in the OHL. They were together in the amazing Memorial cup run in 2019, coming back 3 times from 3-1 deficits against 3 stronger teams.

Matheson is 29, his prime years will be passed when MTL is ready to compete. It'll be Guhle/Hutson/Harris time at LD. Durzi is only 24 and is a RD.

I understand all that. But give Matheson another full season in Montreal, and he could potentially return a haul if he maintains this caliber of play.

I agree Matheson could be traded for a good return, but i'd rather have Durzi now than picks and prospects next summer.

Now, this is a reasonable offer.

Maybe... After we draft Cole Hutson who seems to have even more offensive skill than his brother.
