I have to think Hayes has more value than what I am seeing here.

Plays 200 feet.

Close to a PPG player (the last two years on a bad team throwing in the death of his brother)

And retention too boot?

I know many see him as a contract dump, but the guy can still play, and with 3 years left on the contract, I see the Flyers doing much better and a 3rd and 6th.

Flyers fans..... am I missing something here?

His Effort level isnt Consistent , even his Coach has called him on it.
Not the first time either its been pointed out as WPG fans were irritated by him given what they yielded to get him.

Im not saying he's a bad player, he's great
But i think he hurts his own Trade Value more than anything

OK..... that is insight.

Still...... a 3rd and a 6th seems awefully light.

As stated above he is wildly inconsistent, some nights he looks like a bonafide first line center, other nights he gets lost going to the bench. I also wouldn't say Hayes is the perfect 200' player, he wants to be much more offensive minded than Torts wants him to be. Torts isn't telling him to not score but don't do it at the expense of defensive play which he does somewhat regularly, leading to Torts benching him and Hayes disagreeing with it.

In a different system Hayes can thrive but under Torts with the Flyers rebuilding both on and off the ice he clearly wants to move on.

I think given Hayes' age and a rebuild coming, that divorce was happening regardless
