Okay, but why do you want Silfverberg?

doesn't really work out for Ottawa. the reason to move Joseph would be to have space for DeBrincat, but taking on Garland would take up that cap space and take it from "it'd be real tight to sign DeBrincat" to "they definitely can't sign him now"

Easy pass on the Montreal trade. Beauvillier for Edmundson is about even, but Boeser >>> Anderson

Would rather keep Garland and then use a mid round pick to dump Myers rather than take back Silfverberg

No specific reason.

Fair enough. I am just messing around with some trade ideas.

I thought that CAT isn't willing to sign a long term deal, and that Sens might look for a scoring winger.

I don't love any of them, but they're pretty even except for the Montreal trade. You'd have to break my arm to be excited about Josh Anderson at 4 more years of 5.5

it's not a foregone conclusion yet. definitely seems possible at this junction, but the "DeBrincat has no inclination of signing long term" article was just Bruce Garrioch's "feeling". If this is a world where DeBrincat has already been traded, yeah this seems reasonable, assuming he was traded only for picks and they didn't get already get a cheaper replacement in return

I'd probably take that deal for Montreal...and I do like Anderson a lot !
But trying out Beauvillier for a year, in return of Edmundson, is a win. And trying out Boeser, while shedding two-years on Anderson's contract, isn't something I would be opposed to.

If MTL adds a late 2nd then I'd do it.
I'm not huge on trading Aman he's got good PK upside.
Garland trade seems fair.

Silfverberg for Myers BEFORE the latter's $5 million bonus is paid in the off-season costs Anaheim $750,000.

Silfverberg for Myers AFTER the latter's $5 million bonus is paid in the off-season costs Vancouver $10.25 million and doesn't help the Canucks much with their cap concerns.

For weeks now we Anaheim guys have been accepting Myers after his bonus is paid and Vancouver's 2024 fourth in exchange for our 2024 sixth. That pretty much solves Vancouver's cap problem at minimal cost (except out-of-pocket).
