Draisaitl has 13 goals now in these playoffs.

This is his 8th game.

The all time record in single playoffs is 19 goals, scored by Reggie Leach in 1976 and Jari Kurri in 1985.

If Edmonton wins this round I think Drai is going to shatter this record big time.

This hit? Leaving the feet seems to be allowed these days.
He didn't really hit him that hard, and Nico's head was down, which is probably why they didn't call it.
But he did clearly leave his feet.
So if they start calling that, it would be a change.

Staal's stick to Hughes' face was probably more deserving of a look.
Very dirty and dangerous play, but veteran cover-up to make it look like a "whoopsie".

And the Martinook play on Siegenthaler was one of the most bizarre non-calls of the series.
He tore his helmet off. Led to a goal. Game-altering non-call.

Bringing up other things is not a defense of KK. He launched into the high hit and swung his elbow around into his head. That's highly illegal and dangerous, and it does not magically become more legal because Hischier was in a vulnerable position. It also does not become more legal because NHL refs and DoPS are absolute dog ****.

I don;t know what Staal play you're talking about.

As for Martinook, I have not seen a video angle that showed him "tearing his helmet off" And either way, you were already down 2-0 and had taken all of one shot on goal through the first 22 minutes of a game you lost 5-1, so I'm not seeing any conceivable way that qualifies as "game-altering" even if it was a bad non-call.

The one upside of not having my team in the playoffs is that I get to see all the drama unfold and not get a heart attack every game

I am not defending Kotkaniemi at all…I think it was an illegal hit. I am just saying they seem to be inventing ways to allow these hits to continue. I am playing Devils advocate (no pun intended).

Here is the Martinook play where he tore off Siegenthaler’s helmet. I didn’t catch it at first, but Ryan Callahan pointed it out during the intermission. They play resulted in a goal…so if it were called a penalty, it would have been a one-goal game with NJD on the power play.

And here is the play where Staal knocked Hughes front teeth out: https://twitter.com/hockeydaily365/status/1653922863819157507?s=46&t=g31Gjqz_QqNLEAqILBliJw. Not a great angle…but from other side, it was clear he lifted the stick into Hughes’ face. (If someone knows a link for that, post it).

Firing Gallant seems like an overreaction, no? I don't see how the coach was the problem.

Well, the way it was said, seemed more like mural contract termination, also players played a part in Gallant moving on

Idk I get this whole listen to your players but in some cases its seems like they just be acting like Divas. Calgary it made sense as u could see it players were not happy. NYR I got a feeling it was Panarin who complained.

RIP so many coaches I feel soon gonna be out of the job at this rate anyways for teams who need lots of options lul

Draisaitl with a casual 13 tucks in 8 games. Drai with 18 points in 8 games. McDavid and Bouchard basically @ 2 ppg. Edmonton's offense made Vegas look like a peewee team tonight. Big dawgs rollin'.

Is that a record for Draisatl? It’s hard to imagine anyone getting more than that lol.

It's not a record yet. But if they keep rolling like they have been and they get past Vegas or into the finals, I think Draisaitl shatters the record which is 19 goals held by Reggie Leach and Kurri. Hell. If he keeps up this pace he might break 25 honestly.

Yes, as I said, you cannot see what happens with Martinook and the helmet from that angle. I also cannot tell from the Hughes clip you posted. Cannot really comment on those plays, but they have nothing to do with the KK hit anyway.

Sounds to me like he was more of a sacrificial lamb by a room full of stars.

There was also a report of some strife between him and Drury during the playoffs.

Jay Woodcroft shows every other coach how a champion answers questions about physical play/DOPS. For me; the entire press conference was a breath of fresh air; somebody with radiating confidence that can be summarized by “come at us, we’ll take care of any business you bring our way”.

Considering Carolina was gifted a penalty shot on a PK, I'd say the calls have been in their favor.

On balance refs have been favoring the Devils over the Canes in Game 3, at least in my view.
But you're correct in that the penalty shot was a gift from the refs, Hamilton played this perfectly.
