Avs decline, G is younger, cheaper, better, and signed for longer.

I dont know why people keep trying to trade Vladar. He is a sub .900 goalie. Seems like a lateral move to Helberg, as Vladar got far better defense in front of him.

Detroit passes, We don't need Vlader. Would rather just go after one of the backup UFA Goalies this summer.

The only Flame player i can see Yzerman remotely targeting is Elias Lindholm as our 2C.

That's an easy no for the Avs. They may need a C but not trading a decent young D for a pending UFA who is 34 years old.

You didn't witness the one month stretch of great Vladar hockey that has Flames fans convinced that he was the starter?! He will get moved but I think Flames fans are dreaming when they're moving him for anything sufficient. Teams have so much info on goalies and trends in their game, Vladar doesn't have the capacity to play multi game stretches, his high glove side is a black hole and thats just surface level stuff. Teams know his value and the fan base will probably be disappointed in the return.

I'd rather get Freddie Andersen for 1 or 3 years (Husso's contract is 2 years remaining), and overpay a little. By then, Detroit knows what it has in Cossa and can decide accordingly who to keep and who to move on from.

Most teams don't have 1b goaltending...if they do it only lasts a season or 2. Giving up more than 10% of the shots on Vladar while playing in a defensive system doesn't bode well with making a case that he is anything more than an average backup. That gets you a 4th or 5th rounder at best.

Goalies can go on hot streaks...Nedelkovic and Helberg both played well in spurts during their tenure. It doesn't mean that the peak performance is what a team will pay for in a trade. Teams tend to pay for the lowest of lows for goalies.

I think you'd be 100% correct in going the Andersen route over Vladar, especially Detroit who has the flexibility to bring in a higher floor goaltender for potentially a little more money. Everyone talks about Vladar as if he took the reigns with the starter role when really he fumbled the opportunity and solidified himself as a 1B option as a ceiling, for now he's a good back up.
