DeBrincat is easily worth a 1st and 2nd and 3rd round pick, Sorry since when does Jarvis have anywhere close to that kind of value.

It doesn’t make sense for the Canes. Jarvis is likely to eclipse DeBrincat’s totals with the next 2 years, so why move him.

I like Jarvis a lot but what makes you think he's gonna score over 40 soon?

Considering how bad Jarvis’s puck luck was this year, and with being shuffled around the roster all year long, it’s very likely he is close to 60 points next year. Besides, just the age difference and what Jarvis can become is a major turn off for this deal. I mean, Jarvis was an untouchable for Meier, who frankly brings more to the lineup than DeBrincat, so why would he be on the table for DeBrincat.

I think he was probably off the table in a Meier deal because San Jose wanted a lot more than just him Jarvis. While I agree he was a bit unlucky and probably should have had 20-25 goals and 50-60 points I just don't know if he has that kind of upside DeBrincat was already scoring 40 at his age. IMO its basically would you rather a 30 goal 60-70 point player in Jarvis later or go for it now in this scenario I don't think either are the wrong answers.

There’s also more of a different play style between the 2. DeBrincat is a goal scorer, whereas Jarvis has been more of a 2-way playmaker. If the end result of their offensive output is that Jarvis has 20-25 fewer points than DeBrincat, I wouldn’t mind because Jarvis makes up for any offensive difference with his defensive play. That’s the big sticking point that I have as to not swap Jarvis and DeBrincat. Plus, just chemistry that Jarvis has with all the vets is so much fun to watch.

I get all that and can see he's gonna be a great player just as a fan of an opposing team I think the canes need more elite skill it's what has kept them from going all the way

sorry it took me a while to pick myself up off the floor from laughing so much at this statement, Jarvis will never score 40 or 30, maybe 20-25-40-50 points, he regressed this year, Cat is a clear major upgrade on Jarvis, and only a fool or a chiarelli would not upgrade when they can

1 fewer point in 14 more games when he is only 21 (sophomore slump, ever heard of it?), whilst having terrible puck luck for the majority of the year and fluctuating linemates due to injuries, yeah that’s a major amount of regression. Jarvis as a 21 year old has something that DeBrincat likely will never have, and that is a mature 2-way game.

But a fool would be someone who would move someone who is only about 25 points shy of DeBrincat, is 5 years younger, and has a much better 2-way game on their ELC for DeBrincat, who has regressed this year, doesn’t even have a contract right now with a 9mil QO and would hurt a cap team’s cap situation (major reason why the Canes do don’t this).

You also shouldn’t say never. Jarvis is only 21, and very likely has at least 16 more NHL seasons in him, more than enough time to break your guarantee.
