Interresting the Schmaltz trade, but it is just a discussion starter, I don't see this trade being the final one. COL will probably have to pay more to have him, since ARI have absolutly no reason to trade him.

Why offer sheet Puljujarvi just to put him on the bench? For the Avs he would be a great linemate with O'Connor and Eller.

I don't think the Avs can sign Eller to that deal in a weak Center FA class he'll get a couple million for sure.

Drouin and Newhook on the same line would be a nightmare defensively. I'll admit I've thought about adding Drouin too but it would be to put him in the top 6 where either Lehky or Nuch can cover his lapses.

It is soo tough to add a legit 2C to the Avs while trying to keep the blueline together but I'm just not sold on Schmaltz as the answer in any case. Just as a player in the first place, but definitely not his contract. The Yotes are not likely to do any retention as they are pinching pennies hardcore now (retention also means they are paying the % of actual cash salary and bonuses too) and as was mentioned they are set for hitting the cap floor next year and don't need Girard as a player either.

Drouin gets nothing more than a "prove it" deal, not $2M. Not sure Schmaltz is the answer. If the Avs are going to move one of Toews or Girard, they need to find a team that needs puck-moving D and has a surplus of good C's they can afford to trade.

The lines aren't what they'd actually go for. Pulju won't receive his QO so I assume he'll be a UFA. Schmaltz is a good target for the avs, I don't think thats how the trade is actually going to happen but I assume it'd involve a three way deal with girard going somewhere he's actually be useful. Eller will likely take a discount to go somewhere to have a chance to win, not sure if the avs are the team but he's def that type of a player
