Fleury has stated he wants to stay put and doesn’t want to move again

No way Addison goes for that. He is going to want 3+MM

Also, this team is in cap hell

Fleury would be awesome to have for a year but they can't afford him.

Goligoski and Fleury both have absolute NMCs, and have expressly opposed the idea of moving.

The problem isn't Addison, because his Qualifying Offer is only $787,500 and he doesn't have arbitration rights yet; the problem is Gustavsson, who does. I think that he and his agent are going to figure out that he's worth at least $3.5 million, and because of the unfortunate accident of his birthday, as a practical matter he can only be given a one-year deal. That makes filling the hole left by Matt Dumba and filling out the roster a very difficult task once you realize that Fleury isn't going anywhere and can't be bought out. That's why the likeliest path for Minnesota is to get rid of Marcus Foligno's $3.1 million cap hit.

I don't know where you heard that Goligoski has "expressly opposed the idea of moving" because it's been repeatedly reported that he would be open to a trade if it means consistent playing time. Russo has talked about it numerous times this season even as recently as today. Guerin also made a comment at his end of season presser about how he was going to need to have a longer conversation with Goligoski about the future.

Thinking Foligno will be a cap casualty , he will get a decent return.

I think that neither move their NMC, but if you want to make cap you can buyout Goligoski and create 1.3M in space, which seems more plausible than trying to trade him. I think that Dumba is gone as well, if you want to resign Addison I can see it but personally I would rather find a 6th D in free agency thats less of a defensive liability, a side note is that Shaw will probably be on LTIR but it depends on the timeline, will at least start on IR for the season

Wild are not going to re-sign Dumba unless its for like 1mil a year for two years, which there is no way Dumba takes that. Faber is his replacement which you don't have in the line up.

So basically it means keeping Fleury, not re-signing Dumba and replacing him with Faber.

Well Ottawa needs a goalie, and without that NMC he'd be one in the market most likely.

Surely he wants that, but after playing sheltered minutes and basically netting power play points only he's not going to get that.

I'd wager the deal is somewhere between $900k - $1,5M, depending on the term

Perhaps. Just knowing how much Evason and Guerin likes him I think they first want to explore alternative routes in order to keep him.

I don't know about sheltered minutes. But his 5v5 stats are comparable to Dumba who is probably going to make 5 - 7MM in the offseason. His PP numbers are comparable to Adam Fox who just got 9.5MM per.

No way he should sign for less than 3MM a year, even as an RFA.

Well he averaged only 16 minutes per game. That ranks only 8th in the roster. That is not a 3 million dollar defenseman.

He's more or less in Guerin's doghouse. But if he's cheap, he's of use to Minnesota next year.

I just saw his minutes, yeah that is a bit sheltered. But I guess where I go to is that he likely won't be cheap and another team would roll the dice on him taking a step forward. I think he'll be traded.

They need to aim higher. They don't need another Cam talbot
