I am tempted to agree on this in principal but Chychrun’s ability to stay healthy scares me. If Chabot leaves Sanderson and Chychrun inherit lots of ice time on the left side.

Good trade for Ottawa but they probably need to add a little something extra like a half decent defenseman prospect. The usual Docker / Thomson their fans are always trying to move should do the trick.

Chabot can put up points but he's a career negative +/- he's been negative every year he's been in the NHL.

No thanks, Roy is regularly praised by coaches, brass, and players. He is so good defensively he made Durzi look strong defending

Hence why Ottawa would want him and Iaffalo. They need more players like this to round out the team.

Aside from needing both players for their defensive acumen. Why do the Kings need Chabot (41 points)? They spent alot to obtain a rental defensive left-shot defenseman (Gavrikov), the list of the Kings offensive defensemen include: Doughty (34 points), Durzi (38 points), Clarke, Spence, and Walker. I think in regards to offensive defensemen the Kings are not in the market.

I believe in the right setting Chabot can be a better offensive point producer, the problem in Ottawa has been the D has not been great past few years and he logs way too many minutes. If he played with a solid stay at home partner he could get more involved.
I get what you are saying , if I was LA I would be reluctant to give up those 2 players too. After a team fails to make the playoffs or advance people try to determine what can be done to take them to the next level. Looking at their top point producers on the back end there is a opportunity to improve. A solid #1 tender takes them to the next level IMO. Hellebuyck could be a good landing spot and L.A has the assets to get him.

One of Chychrun or Sanderson is playing on the right side next season. They only put Chychrun on at 3LD to ease him back into it especially with a new team because Arizona scratched him for half the season.
the top 2 D pairs for ottawa will look like:

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - zub

or

Sanderson - Chychrun
Chabot - Zub
