They might trade down but not that far and it would cost you more than that.

No reason too imo but you’d def have to add if they do decide to. If they aren’t in a position where they want to move down, you’d have to give them a substantial offer.

Last year, pick 11 was traded for 27, 34, & 45. The jump from 13 to 7 isn’t nearly as drastic, but it really is in the eyes of who is pulling the trigger on a trade like this if it’s worth it. 13, 39, and a 3rd/4th for 7 would be similar value to that imo. But again, it was probably because SJS didn’t like who was left and they wanted quantity.

Sharks and Coyotes trade last year is an about picture perfect example.

Sharks traded: 11th OA

Coyotes traded: 27th OA, 2 ‘22 seconds (picks #34 and #45)

Yep just was going back on the draft trying to find a comparable for him and stumbled upon that SJ-ARI trade you just mentioned. That actually brings to my attention that I’m really really hoping the Pens do smth like this. I would absolutely love dropping down in the 20’s for those extra 2 second assets that we could desperately use.

No, they won't. They have an incredibly deep pool and only lack true top end prospects. If anything, I could see them trying to convince one of MTL or ARI to move up

The value the OP offered is probably fair given. Unofficial pick chart is 7.1 for pick 7, 5.3 for pick 13, 2.2 for pick 39. Taken into account depreciation for multiple assets it’s in line with real life ( past trades) and future value charts

This is the rub. Value is in line, but doesn’t necessarily make sense for Philly

For me to move down 6 spots from 7th to 13th it means we can’t win the lottery anymore and miss all of the top talent. In my opinion to make that trade it would cost 3 first round picks from Buffalo to justify that. That might be too much but I wouldn’t do it for anything less.
