Is this so bad

Description
Is this roster so bad? I have the lines set to how Tochet may have them. I want the canucks to look in-house for 3 C. Yes, it's not ideal but I would rather that than have another Mikheyev deal and moan about it 2 years later. Podz starts in Abby, I liked his development there this year and he still needs some work defensively. Hoglander maybe cracks the lineup but who knows, his cap hit can be buried in the A and not affect the big team if needed for development. Obviously, it's over the cap, but with Pearson on the fence about playing again, that opens up room for them. The important aspect of this plan is having enough room for 2024-25 when the significant extensions for Petey and Hronek kick in, canucks should work to sign them for as long as they can (7/8 years) for those guys because the price for them never gets cheaper as the years go on and not signing some ~$3M ~26y/o 3rd line C gives them that room to be able to lock them down and not worry about having to compromise on a 4/5 year deal. It's not perfect but with the situation as it is I'm happier with this and the year to start to contend is 24/25 instead of pretending to contend for the next 4 years and repeatedly being mediocre.

From what ive heard, Pearson isnt likely to be back.

Regardless - yes this lineup is bad.

This lineup is over the cap. They have to trade someone this offseason.

If Pearson is out then he goes onto LTIR and one of the younger players (Podz, Nils, etc) has a higher chance of making the team out of camp and the team gets under the cap by going into LTIR to start the season

If Pearson is on LTIR then you can use that to be cap compliant to enter the season

What’s going to change about this lineup then? You see this management group doing anything to change the lineup with the 0 cap space available? They already said they aren’t interested in using draft capital to dump contracts and they said they aren’t interested in buy-outs. Unless you’re getting more information than the statements from the end of season pressers I can’t see how they don’t return with an eerily similar lineup.

I'm pretty confident that 2 of Myers, Boeser, and Garland will be gone. The lines combinations are also pretty bad. I'd be surprised if Aman secures the 3C role. When was the last time ANY team made ZERO changes in the offseason?
