Canucks easily decline. Pearson is LTIR and trending towards being LTIRetired and we certainly aren't taking Armia's deal for free, he wouldn't even crack our NHL roster and we aren't paying him $3.4 mil to rot in the minors and block our young guys down there.

Counter question. Who was the last high end goalie prospect to get traded at all?

Rask - traded at 19 for a 25 year old NHL "starting" goalie. Toronto was in "win now" mode at the time and needed to replace the departure of Belfour. The equivalent
Hasek - traded at age 27 (hardly comparable)
Luongo - traded at age 21 after his D+3 year (Wolf just finished his D+4 season for comparison). Traded along side young star in the making Jokinen for 2 22 y/o NHL regulars with pretty high potential.

Overall these are pretty dated examples. And I think that proves my point on why I don't need to look for a top end goalie prospect returning a 1st+. Because prospects like that are extremely rare and hard to come by so when a team gets hold of one they are pretty much never traded unless that team happens to get 2 prospects of that caliber (Andersen to Toronto for example but he was traded at age 26 and with 125 NHL games under his belt).

In conclusion there is almost nothing that Montreal could offer to make the Flames consider parting with Wolf at this point in time.

Why would that ever happen outside a video game? Markstrom has a full NMC and Hellebuyck is 1 season away from making 9M a year that Calgary isn't going to be interested in paying. Not to mention Calgary needs to move cap out and Hellebuyck is more expensive than Markstrom

It doesn't matter Dustin Wolf is one of the most untouchable prospects in the league, if at least Caufield isn't part of the deal Calgary laughs in your face.
