Henrique is far superior defensively than olofsson and still puts up plenty of points, and has the added value of being able to take faceoffs at one of the highest rates on the team, yet our payment for this is a waivers claim that we could have snagged ourselves?

This is not a trade that interests Anaheim.

I’m fine with acquiring Brenden Dillon but you are overpaying for him, and there’s no need for Henrique, especially overpaying to get him. Not sure Dumba is the right partner for Power either. And since I don’t bother with Henrique you don’t need to sign Kampf because you still have Jost, who would be more valuable than Henrique anyway. Unless you’re going to let Okposo go, and replace him with Kampf.

A big overpay for the current edition of Dumba. There are good short term UFA Dmen available that would suit the Sabres need. I wouldn't be depending on two young goalies to see me through the season. There are short term UFA goalies that could help immediately, and if Levi takes over as # 1 that's fine too.

why doesn't buff ever try to get a goalie. Their d and forwards are good?

A goalie is one of the few things we know they do have. Levi is the real deal, and if they can find a legitimate partner for Owen Power and just improve the team defensive game, they will be a threat to win the division next season. 10 more regulation wins isn’t exactly out of the realm of possibility with above average goaltending and slightly better defense in front of it.

Dumba was the best D man for the Wild in playoffs so I could not possibly disagree any more. Top 4 RHD that adds physicality and veteran presence.

Not worried about slightly over paying for the right pieces to build around the core. Dillon is exactly that.

I think the left side is generally set. And if they can get a hold of Mayfield in free agency, they won’t have to make a bad trade for a guy with a one-year contract that can walk next year. Poor asset management is a big part of why this playoff drought has lasted as long as it has. Things look optimistic now, but a couple of bad trades can really screw that up.

Everyone here likes to **** on Luukkonen, but he’s far better than most people here think. If the team improves the defense in front of him we’ll see how good they can be as a tandem. Neither guy should play more than 40 or so games, and that will help. Since the team believes in Levi they won’t likely bring in a high priced vet like Sorokin. He’s a Vezina candidate, he won’t want a 50-50 split where he plays next.
