Talk about delusional, the 13th overall pick and UPL doesn't move you up 7 spots. Detroit with the 9th pick and other 2nd round picks would blow away that offer.

I'll add more if needed. But I'm not sure everyone is gonna be in the market for Michkov. Teams are sounding scared.

Both Arizona and Chicago aren't going anywhere for awhile, Both can be patient on Michkov it's only 3 more seasons before he'll be over. And i'm pretty sure they can break their deals with the KHL if need be.

They have to buy out their contracts or else defect à la Malkin. Much harder in a country currently at war. And I'm sure the kid whose dad was just found dead in a pond isn't eager to piss off an overzealous government.

I have always been very insistent that Michkov will not fall out of the top 3, but now I feel like its inevitable he drops a lot.

The next 14 years or production out of him is about 820 games, id guess 400 goals and maybe 700 total points while someone like Carlson is going to be 1066 games with maybe 250 goals and 800 points, which is obviously more.

And the numbers dont need to be exact, but as much as I love Michkov that 4 year buffer period is a HUGE risk. Carlson and Smith are worth the safety of this situation, but after them Michkov needs to be the guy

It's not quite 4 years. His contract expires in 2026 so it's 3 more seasons.
I also am fully holding out hope that he and his family can get out.
Like they all come to the draft and just don't go back. He'll be making enough money to get them started over here.
Idk what the process is for the states compared to Canada but they could even apply for refugee status and possibly get some benefits that way.
