Description
We should consider trading Foligno, Hartman, and Gustavsson while their value is high. We already know what this group of players can do so can we at least experiment a little by maximizing our chances of acquiring another star player or two?!

Noah Warren plays on the Ducks. Do you mean Marshall Warren?

Detroit have just traded away Filip Hronek, I doubt they will trade for someone who is a copy of him. Addison scores 75% of his points on the PP and is bad on defense, takes too many penalties, too many givaways, and was heavily sheltered this season with offensive zone starts.

Probably not. I chose BUF because I had read numerous posts from BUF fans complaining about the team's lack of "grit". Duhaime has that in abundance ergo the trade. This is more about trading Duhaime than it is about making a trade with BUF.

Sounds good. I've seen numerous ACGMs with DET fans accepting this trade so I figured I'd continue with the status quo.

I'm not at all blind to who those prospects are going to CHI. It's a good package. Wouldn't MIN prefer to have Spacek replace Goligoski and Bankier replace Foligno? Good prospects far more ready than anyone MIN will draft this year. Think a TRad for the MIN 2023 1st could work if we send back the VAN 2024 2nd?

I'd seriously consider this trade too, just curious.

I’m one of those. I’ve seen it split, I just personally like Addy and he is young enough to round out his game. The alternatives this summer aren’t spectacular.

I (obviously) like the Hawk deal and think it really benefits both teams. Wild get 3 NHL pieces at league minimum contracts to try to navigate the 15 million cap buyout issue which is really acute this Summer (Next Summer with contracts expiring and cap going up, the space should be there to hang on to TRad/Roos especially). TRad combo of production to cap hit is one of the better assets that may be realistically available for cap strapped teams to try to acquire. Hawks get a chance to reset 3 mid 20's assets for early 20's which despite Bedard will better fit when they actually can/should start to turn around in 2 or 3 years. I really like Roos as he transitioned well to North America this season even getting some NHL time and not looking out of place at all. But, you have to give to get and flipping Roos a LHD (where the Hawks are bursting at the seams with prospects) for a younger RHD where they are much thinner makes sense. For the Wild , Roos can be a depth piece this season for a playoff team as he has 2 full seasons of pro against men and Spacek needs to play some pro hockey before has a chance to be that in a season or 2). Katchouck is nothing earth shattering, but he is a legit NHL player on a 750K contract which a late 2nd might turn into that in 3 or 4 years....or it might not. Some of the value of that late 2nd pick (because Katchouck is not worth a 2nd obviously) adds to Bankier to meet the value the Hawk probably want for TRad to move him.

Spacek and Bankier are junior players that have never played pro hockey. They are not going to help at the NHL level this season which all of TRad, Katchouck, and Roos can at minimum salary. Spacek and Bankier need a full season of AHL to have any idea if they have even a chance of helping at the NHL level the following season. The reason you pay the price to trade for TRad is you expect to make the playoff which those prospects will not move the needle this season or even the following season). RHD for the Wild would still have 2 20 year options even without Spacek with Faber looking like a potential star and Masters another nice prospect.

Curious, before we dive in...are you in favor of this trade or potentially my propsed trade for 2023 1st

I mean, you have to lean on your rookies at some point. Faber is a great example. Having multiple years of ELC for Spacek/Bankier. My suggestion wasn't even for next year...it's the year after. They still have goli/foligno. Let Spacek/Bankier a year in Iowa. That 2023 pick is #22. It's not even a top 10 pick. It won't be impactful for 3-5 years from now.

I could live with either trade, but prefer this one here. This one gives you 2 pieces that start to fill in some holes in the Hawk prospect pool that draft picks do not (we have enough picks this and the next few drafts). The draft picks we are talking about are 3 or 4 years out from the NHL, where Spacek/Bankier are more like a year or two. For me it is timing of when the players will arrive and I prefer the proposal here as it gives you a couple pieces that have a sooner schedule. This proposal also gives the Hawks 5 2nd rounders this draft which is more than enough ammo to also upgrade the Tampa pick AND add a third 1st rounder if you want to because someone you have targeted in the draft slides to a place you can act on.

Can't argue too much on the timing. I guess my focus was more toward high end talent vs timing. Spacek is good. I'd prefer to draft Reinbacher at RD and use those 2nds to move up. We can weaponize our cap with UFAs and allow the prospects we ultimately do get time to develop at their proper levels.

6 one way half a dozen another.

A 3rd is a bit much for Duhaime considering you waived a player just like him in Jost to us last season. Depending on what Adams wants to do they could be interested.

Have you watched Duhaime lol? He doesn't play like Jost at all. Other than both being bottom 6 players, they're very diff. Duhaime is like 6'2" 200+ and skates around like a maniac trying to hit and fight whoever. Jost is just a faux-top 6 skill guy who never lived up to his pedigree but carved out a niche on PK and occasionally makes plays.

Completely different ends of the role-player spectrum.

I watched a little bit of the abbreviated Minnesota playoff series. He didn’t exactly stand out to me, although I suppose he got more ice time after Foligno got himself thrown out a couple minutes into the one game. Jost did some good work in Buffalo after being claimed off waivers. He’ll go into the corners and dig for the puck, and while he is not a typical grinder, he isn’t afraid to hit people. Maybe Duhaime is a more physical player, but I didn’t see it when I watched the team play. I saw a lot of hitting early on in the series, but most of it was Hartman, (ironically Dumba) and Foligno.

Gotcha, so yeah very small sample size. He was irrelevant in that series though, you're not wrong there.

Duhaime has 347 hits and 18 fighting majors over 131 career NHL games
Jost has 303 hits and 2 fighting majors over 413 career NHL games

They're completely different players - not saying one style is better or worse, just that you wouldn't consider them proxies for one another. They service different roles.

So he’s more like Zach Kassian, but younger. I guess I can see that. I wonder if that’s the kind of player that Kevyn Adams is going to be looking for.
