Throwing a bunch of money and term at a bunch of mediocre UFAs is not the way to build a team, it's a way to waste the first 5-7 years of Bedard's career.

If Davidson's idea of how to do a rebuild is to immediately commit $42m to Tyler Bertuzzi and Matt Dumba, there's no point in even drafting Bedard.

I know what CHI looks like. Even without Bedard, though, CHI should be an alluring destination. Deep pockets, plenty of cap space, plenty of opportunity, lots of young talent on the way, world class facilities, large market original 6 team, and an awesome city to live in. They can never completely make up for what happened, but if you believe actions speak louder than words, they have done and continue to do a decent job at remedying the scandal that came out last year. Regardless, the on ice product is INTENTIONAL and NECESSARY. So, any player that is smart would understand all of that, and any player that isn't smart we don't want in CHI. Sure, Bedard is a desirable player to play with, but that isn't CHI's only selling point.

Also, Keep Bertuzzi and his anti-vax bologna away from CHI. Would not draft Pelikka, since we are loaded with D prospects and forward is a much more pressing position that needs to be addressed.

This is how you botch a rebuild, don't rush it for quick results. Tampa nearly messed that up with the Lecavelier deal. They got lucking in 2013 but they were able to keep themselves in the top 10 in draft order for a couple more years

Don't waste cap....just because you got it now. There will plenty of players available to sign in the next few years and the Hawks will have cap.
And don't discount the bonuses high end draft picks get that will affect the cap, and that if Bedard and others are successful....gee could be they get real big $$$$ in year four of they NHL careers, like McDavid, Eichel and Matthews did
