Why would canes do that?

It's a good roster but the moves don't really add up, maybe just the wrong targets. Lindholm has more value to the Flames right now than in a trade with 1 year left, a team near the cap isn't going to take on a rental unless they have an extension in place which the Canes don't really need with their current C depth and pipeline, Lindholm would be a nice luxury rental but that's about it for Carolina, not worth Necas. Hanifin for Nylander without extensions is probably fine, adding controllable assets from Calgary's side doesn't make a ton of sense. Flames would be fortunate to get a 3rd for Vladar and Phillips will be in someone else's AHL system next year, no need for him anywhere near the Flames.

Were not trading our 1st for 1 year of Nylander

Given the Goalie Market and Past Comps, Vladar will net the value of a 2nd

Flames need to focus on extending Lindholm or Trading him with an Extension; in which case he’ll fetch way more. Think what BUF got for Eichel, considering Lindholm will be much cheaper and doesn’t have a neck & injury history

Nylander isn’t worth that. Hanifin for Nylander or Reinhart 1-for-1 is close by himself
