I'm not saying either team should do this, but is it something that could happen at the draft (last time the canucks can trade JT before his NMC kicks in).

This could work, though another PIT contract would have to come back.

2 years of Granlund at 5m per is nothing compared to 7 years of Miller at 8m per.

People don't seem to understand that VAN views Miller as a positive asset, he's got 5 years left of being solid and his game isn't based on speed so he could age well. Granlund on the other hand is a negative asset so PIT would have to pay more to get us to take on a negative asset.

That might be what they say in public but the reality is they're kicking themselves in the butt over signing Miller to that albatross of a contract and losing Horvat as a result.

Have you seen what Horvat has become? Dude got paid more than Miller and completely fell apart, they're laughing their asses off at the fact they got so much for Horvat and avoided signing a real albatross.

You're really big wrong there. Miller is the better contract now. 9/10 people take Miller @8 for 7, over Horvat @8.5 for 8. Especially with the horrendous decline Horvat had after the trade, even with a fully healthy line up. Miller on the other hand actually improved his play after the trade back to what it was when he earned that contract.

that being said they are both still a bit over paid. Maybe 1m~ for miller, and about 2.5m for Horvat.
