Leafs add Reilly for Sabres to even consider
Marner is borderline cap dump, particularly if Sabres want to be Cup contenders and not playoff chokers

Yes to your question.
Sabres and Bruins pass at a minimum.

😂 come on man… you know that’s false, funny but false. He instantly is the most talented player on BUF and that’s not close

Unless you can convince the league to allow Boston to play with a 95m cap….

Still no

Um have you watched the Sabres? Thompson and Dahlin are in Marner's talent pool.

This is par for the course on here man. Marner had any other jersey on, he'd be worth a pile, but he's a leaf so he's a cap dump.

Cap hit aside, Marner is a top 10 player in the league. Love Tage and Dahlin but Tage isn’t and Dahlin is questionable for top 5 D in the league

Marner is a top 5 winger, Thompson and Dahlin aren't top 5 players at their position. This right here is why this site is broken

That's all great, but it's not what you said. You said he'd instantly be their most talented player, and that it would not be close. Ehhh dunno about all that.

Why, because people poorly comprehend reading and/or cannot make proper equivalencies? What does where they stand in their respective positional league pools have to do with his claim?

That's highly debatable by itself, but you also said it wasn;t close, which is just ludicrisp.

So if we took a poll one who was more talented (cap/position/size aside) do you really believe 30% or more would truly pick Tage or Dahlin when it comes to talent? Biased fans aside. Are you clicking on either of them over Marner? I think it’s Going to be 90%+ on marner. 70/30 isn’t close either but 90/10 is a landslide.

Heh. No, I do not think Marner would get 90%. And that isn't what "not close" means in this context. But whatever, man. You love Marner, don't like the Sabres. We got it.

Best the Leafs can hope for in this Murray deal is the Rangers '23 2nd, and I'm not even sure the Hawks offer that. Hawks really don't need another injury prone ex Leafs G.

I do not care for either team but I would agree with Boris. I would take a 70+ pt Dman who is big and physical and only 6 mil/year over Marner and his 11 mil/year any day. Toronto would need to add to this, maybe not Reilly, but a bigger name for sure.

Hahaha that’s not at all what I’m saying. Not sure why you are taking it out of context. We can all agree that marner is above both of those guys in the hockey ranks.. that’s not up for debate. But if you asked me to pick which one I’d build a team around or which position or contract I would want then marner is at the bottom of that list. So no I don’t love him, no I don’t hate the sabres, but I can identify who is actually the most talented/skilled player between them. I know you can too and I’m not sure why you’re making this an argument that it shouldn’t be 🤷🏻‍♂️

Talent aside, what will inherently have more value to a team.

1. 1st line 2 way winger who has a history of going invisible for stretches in the playoffs. 2 years left until UFA and 26 years old.
or
2. 1st pairing Dman who can play either side, but no playoff experience yet. RFA after another season and 23 years old.

I'm taking the younger top pairing Dman, and I'm betting many others would as well. Buffalo needs Dahlin a lot more than they would need Marner. Dahlin fits the age curve of the team, where while only 3 years older Marner would be closer to the top end age range of the Sabres core. Meaning being in his prime right now is not ideal as most of the Sabres core haven't hit their prime years and won't for a couple more seasons.

Also, if Marner is sooooo much better..... Why are you trading him for Dahlin?

Really? Tage Thompson is a center (hardest position in the NHL to fill) who put up 94 pts in 78 games. On pace for 99. Mitch Marner put up 99 pts in 80 games as a winger. Dahlin was 4th in points amongst dman and a +12 on a team that missed the playoffs. In my opinion Dahlin is worth more than Marner and Thompson is equal to him. Marner was 13th in points and Thompson was 15th and is a year younger playing a harder position.

I am not a fan of either team so please don't think I have any blinders on. The facts are the facts. Marner is a winger. The easiest position to fill in the nhl.

Another 6-7 RD is the absolute last thing Columbus needs. They wouldn't take Timmons for free.
