I think Arizona have similar plans than Detroit, they have so many picks that they should move up, not down. Quality > Quantity.

When did I ever mention Kakko? Or anyone remotely like him? The Avs will likely only be trading that 1st if it leads to them getting a genuine 2C. Otherwise they'll keep it and use it to add to a VERY depleted prospect pool. Perron is a 1 and done 34 yr old rental. Veleno put up less points than Newhook and is a year older so even though he's a C he's not likely to be the 2C of the future. Nothing there to really interest the Avs and definitely not enough to make them part with that 1st.

Can’t see them getting a 30–30 2c guy with pick 25 from anyone but alright. Your right probably best move is to make the pick

As has been discussed on numerous threads on here with Caps fans, the majority would take the '24 1st and '25 3rd for Kuznetsov with retention so one has to imagine the '23 1st would be enough on its own in the deeper draft year. So better to make a move like that and add someone like Stenberg to the prospect pool. Even on a down year Kuzy put up 55 points so it's very plausible that it can be done.

Well if you can convince the caps gm to make such a move go for it . If they still want to compete with ovie there though I don’t know how that helps them , it’s one thing moving ufa’s but moving kuznetsov for a late first leaves a huge cap at Center with a crap free agency crop. Unless they can get like Ryan oreilly signed for like 4 years I personally wouldn’t do it if I’m them and still want to ice a competitive team

Backstrom is signed for 3 and Strome just extended. Kuzy is arguably the odd one out. Dowd seems well respected and signed for 3 so likely retains one of the lower C spots so all they need is a 3/4C. Anyhow just an illustration of why it's a bad move for the Avs.

Backstrom is gonna turn 36 and was on a 40 pt pace season. Much rather have kuznetsov on my team than strome and he’d be the 1c for me on the team unless backstrom rebounds back to old form. Dowd is a 4c. I’d be beyond shocked if you can land kuznetsov with that pick

May not happen, just saying as far as on here that's the ballpark valuation including from Caps fans.

Perfectly fine. The Kings, if necessary, will bury him for one more year and buy him out next year for minimal costs. Or find someone else who will take that price (maybe Chicago, for instance).

Petersen, Spence, and a 2023 2nd for McIsaac and a 7th. I think Detroit can bury or buy ot Peterson easily. Maybe he rebounds?

Don’t you dare mention wood . Take it back ... you’ll draft Ritchie and you’ll be happy 😂

You like Wood? I know nothing of him.

My hope is Pelikka and Moore. Keeps in tbe mold of guys who can skate. I hope Detroit can trade up and land both. I'll be a lot more optimistic having those two than I would having a future cap breaker in Bedard. Don't get me wrong, I'd be perfectly elated to have Bedard or Fantilli, but Moore and Pelikka would be the ultimate consolation prize.

In two years, Detroit's top 4 will be mostly big and highly mobile. Three great skating two way centers. Man I'd love that.

Well I guess those caps fans don’t want to ice a competitive team if they’re willing to move kuznetsov for later picks . Wrong call imo

Think he’s Got huge upside. That’s what we need to start targeting imo, stop being safe and getting a guy who might play but be another veleno and play bottom 6. Saw an interview where someone mentioned wood was 5’6 two years ago ... he’s 6’3 now ... once he gets stronger I think he can be a big time player in the league man. Bonus , apparently he’s a childhood friend of bedard and they workout together every summer . We already got an insider to convince bedard to come to detroit as a ufa 😂

Obviously if michkov is there at 7 I make the trade. Np trading up from 17 for a moore , otherwise at 17 I’m looking at musty another guy I think has huge upside and is still only 17 yrs old till July I believe. Big guy who can shoot. I know we need right d help but I think we can deal a veleno etc.. in a trade for one . We won’t have enough room for everyone

I'd say they'd still easily be competitive. They'd have the cap space to add significant pieces too.

Then you have fans of other teams who think Kuzy isn't even worth a first, and I quote from another thread......'Nobody is giving up anything of value for kuznetsov at 7.8x2 stop it' and 'He’s worth 5 and being paid 7.8. Nobody is giving up anything for an aging, overpaid, defensive liability with a drug problem.' So opinions definitely do vary. Here's the thread if you want to see his valuation. https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/706382?post_id=4048157

Just goes to show, you're closer to one extreme, he's at the other. I'm somewhere in the middle with the majority of Caps fans....but that's all part of the fun of Cap Friendly lol.

Ya I’d disagree , kuznetsov is the best out of the 3 atm and the youngest, if they have to trade him cause he wants out and there’s tension sure but I don’t think the end result would be losing the best center they have atm for a late pick. If they move him it would be for another replacement center

I dont need to see fans opinions. Fans will always **** and complain about players, at the end of the day management make the decisions. If he comes out next year with 70-80 pts fans will sing a different tune. Everyone knows how good kuznetsov can be and it’s not even a question whether he’s a better player than strome or not. Backstrom sadly looks like he might be done

No thanks. McIsaac doesn't interest me, and the Kings don't have the draft capital this year to be sending out their 2nd rounder. Up the prospect to someone who looks like they might make a relative impact in the NHL (borderline 2nd/3rd pairing LD in the NEAR future) and change the pick to 2024, and maybe the Kings consider.

McIsaac is ready for bottom 4. He plays LD and is solid overall. He'd have been called up this year but Detroit has the best LD talent pool in the NHL. In any case, Detroit wouldn't take on Petersen (nor will anyone) without a significant return. Sounds like the Kings are stuck with him.
