Fully down to do both those and then let it be a 3 player battle l for starter/ backup and the worst goalie is waived and sent to the minors.

Thurn over Simek.
Knyzhov over Spence (for 1 more year then Spence full time in the NHL next year)
Weisblatt is not close to being NHL ready yet would rather Peterson or Kaut
Lindblom would have to have a hell of a pre season to jump back up to top 6 and I don’t see it happening TBH

gonna cost you a 2nd plus for that toronto trade. Cost the leafs 14 spots in the draft to move 2 years of Mrazek. It would cost less than that for one year of Murray

Spence or the 2nd, not both.

I suppose the Kings could take MacDonald if San Jose needed to dump a contract, but there's no value added there.

I'm sorry but you're not getting rid of Murray that easily. Also he has an NTC. Good luck!

Simek and Macdonald need to go to create room for Knyzhov and Thrun. Regardless I don't see SJ helping LA with their bad goalie cap dump.

i mean, they literally got rid of mrazek, who is worse with more term and has an NTC that easy, so it stands to reason that it would in fact be easier to move Murray

I don't disagree. Petersen will likely end up in Chicago.

Man, you're not going to get a full blown first to take Murray. You can get a pick swap involving a first, but they'll just but him out otherwise.

No it's not. And it won't be $10M in cash or cap hit.

Buried in the AHL, he'll have a cap hit of $3.85M per season. He gets a $4M signing bonus on July 1, and the Kings will have to eat that. He'll be traded after that is paid out, meaning he's only owed $7M in cash.

If he's bought out next summer, the total cap hit is $6.85M instead of $7.7M, and he'll only be owed a grand total of $5M in cash instead of $7M.

Murray is pretty easy buyout so he's not costing first. If a team with cap wants him.....maybe a second rounder, and then hope at some time he's on LTIR for some of the season.

That's still going to cost a lot to move. Seems LA is better hanging on to him since it's so cheap to do so.

A team like Chicago will take him for a 2nd. Look around the site, there's already a ton of ACGMs by Chicago fans that have Petersen going to the Blackhawks for a 2nd round pick.

yeah, they constantly over estimate how much it will cost the leafs to get out of bad contracts

Except Mrazek played 40 games last season and has a smaller cap hit. Blackhawks probably still happy to play him again this season.

Murray hasn't played 30 games in 3 seasons and has the higher cap hit.

Idk if it would be cheaper to offload Murray, but I think Toronto can buy him out for relatively cheap.

Murray has played 73 games over the past 3 seasons, Mrazek has played 71. I could easily say that Mrazek has played more than 20 games once the past 3 seasons while Murray has played at least that many in all 3. an extra year term is a much bigger obstacle, especially for a rebuilding team, than 880k in aav
