Even with Bedard, I don't think we can truly be ready to hand out 6 year deals. We are still so early into our rebuild and Bertuzzi is a guy I really like, so thats saying something.

Compher, local lad. It does make sense but id think he may want more competitive hockey (playoffs), we may find that with Domi also and Stars may even look to re-sign if they have room.

I REALLY hope CHI doesn't sign Bertuzzi. Strictly based on play style, sure. But, I just don't like that guy, and for a team trying to instill a culture change, he seems like the opposite of the kinds of people they should be looking to add.

Id have to disagree, Bertuzzi is a guy who shows a lot of passion and plays a hard grit style. I know ppl don't like him because of his choices but gee it feels a little harsh.

I think he will get a longer term deal this offseason which goes against what we should and want to be doing.

It's not harsh. People that hold those kinds of ideals are dangerous and toxic to have around the locker room, especially around younger players. Also, if for no other reason than he could bring covid or any other number of disease into the locker room.

What ideals are you referencing? What makes him more likely to bring covid or any other disease into a locker room?

He is a tough nut who is a great competitor on the ice which is just the sort of guy a playoff team craves.

All the nut job conspiracy theory garbage that isn't based in reality. Being anti-vax makes him more likely to spread disease everywhere, including the locker room.

Him choosing not to take an unproven jab doesn't do that. Now its proven to do nothing, whats holding this guy back?

I mean... It's not just "proven", it was already common knowledge. Vaccines promote the bodies ability to fight disease and makes the window in which diseases are communicable a lot smaller. It is rare for any disease to just have a definitive "cure". These things were already known. The current drama about it "doing nothing" is just blow hard propaganda. It's just comments by officials taken out of context.

Our Govt have already come out and told us it does nothing against spread. Its not propaganda anymore. At least not over here.

Anyway, not here to debate that crap. We got Connor Fricking Bedard Coming, we got a lot to look forward to and a very exciting draft coming up.

Vaccines have almost never "stopped the spread" of any disease dead in it's tracks. They help the bodies ability to fight disease and close the window within which a given disease is communicable. Closing the window means there is less time that the disease can be spread, and promoting the bodies ability to fight it makes people sick for less time and have less severe symptoms. It's a numbers game that IS showing results worldwide. People seem to forget how sick people were getting and how many people were dying from Covid-19 before the vaccine came out. This notion that it doesn't work is derived from a misinterpretation and twisting of facts.

"Being anti-vax makes him more likely to spread disease everywhere" was the reason for not endorsing him joining.

Im not here to debate politics and Medicine, just think he is a good hockey player who has the ability to improve us but doesn't work in regards to our situation and circumstances in relation to the likely term he would be after.

Well, personally, I want nothing to do with people like that. But, personal feelings aside (which I'm not sure how this could not be personal, but I'll try), in the wake of the Kyle Beach situation and all the other scrutiny CHI has faced coupled with the fact that we are trying to bring highly susceptible young men up into the professional ranks (and adulthood), bringing people in with such awful, controversial, and outspoken views who have zero social responsibility, is the opposite of building a socially conscious culture in CHI and in hockey in general. So, it isn't just politics, it is reality. These sorts of views should not be validated or encouraged in any way. IMO, bringing someone like him in sends the wrong message, especially for a team like CHI.

As far as him being the "right type" of player, yeah, I guess I could see it. But there are plenty of those types. Regardless, Bertuzzi will likely be looking for a long term situation, and CHI is not likely the team to offer that to him.
