Terrible idea to get a rental goalie with no guarantee of an extension...and even then, not great bet to go with goalies headed to wrong side of 30.

Not smart to give away a part of the next part of young core in Nemec.

Unlikely that works for Winnipeg. Nemec is really nice, but Bratt is unlikely to resign in Winnipeg and Boqvist and Vanacek have very little value.

This is a hell no from NJ. This is exactly how to close a contention window right as it begins. Look at NYR for examples. Schmid will absolutely be a fine starter for a long time and ha a bare minimum of 3 years of development left.

Jets will give you KFC and Helly (extended) for Nemec, Holtz, Vanecek and a 1st.

You can trade bratt somewhere else to recoup some of the assets lost.

I'm game for that. I don't think we can do a 1st though because there's implications from the Meier trade.

Making a huge upgrade on Bratt (who is still young) and acquiring one of the best goalies in the league without giving up any real roster players closes our contention window how?

I just think if are committing to selling KFC and Helly, they’ll want strictly futures. So bratt wouldn’t be a good fit. Even a future 1st would likely work.

Devils upgrade Holtz > KC, Vanecek > Helly while only giving up Nemec and a 1st. Almost seems like jets are losing on that deal but I feel like helly gets a lot less than people expect.

And it’s totally not by the same guy who wanted to trade Hughes or Hischier for Patrik Laine.

Ahem.
This guy is suggesting giving the most recent 2nd overall pick and a younger winger equivalent (at least) in talent to Kyle Connor and a pending UFA goalie (albeit Helly is very good I get that).

And you're crying about no 1sts included?

I’m not sure if you read what I said. I pointed out that bratt would be of no interest to Winnipeg in the scenario that they are trading Helly, KC and assuming that means PLD and Scheif too. They’d be looking at a full tear down and rebuild.

If you remove bratt, I don’t see why it’s absurd to add a 1st instead of a 2nd.

Not crying just making the trade make more sense, if Winnipeg is heading into full tear down, of course they take a second overall pick or picked back, but if jersey is heading towards a window or all in they sell the future picks, not the ones that will come in handy next 3/5 years.

Never suggested Hughes for Laine, and it's quite strange that you keep bringing it up.
