He would be sweet on the caps, though, you gotta admit.

Honestly, I didn't feel like it needed to be that drastic. There's still a pretty damn good core there that can win a lot of games. They got worse down the middle but much improved on the wings. D-Core is still good. But more importantly the three trades gave them cap flexibility and much needed draft capital.

And complete lack of leadership. Trading away probably your 3 biggest faces of the franchise is lunacy

But you're trading away three pieces of the core.

It's not that crazy. Yes, you're three long standing faces of the franchise are gone, but Kuch, Cirelli, Point and Sergachev become your new faces for the next 5+ years. The lighting aren't afraid to make big move that people think are crazy. It's part of the reason you didn't have a draft pick worth a damn until 2026 before these trades. Same reason you traded St. Louis and Lecavaillier.

Its completely crazy. I see your point, but it will never happen. Stamkos and Vasilevskiy have no movement clauses, and Hedman has a 10 team trade to list. I can't see any reason for BriseBois to trade any of the 3. Not to mention the fanbase will be storming Amalie seeking his blood. St. Louis is a fair point, but slightly different since he was undrafted and also played 2 seasons in Calgary at the start of his career. While it's fair to say that about Lecavalier since he was a face and a lifer in Tampa, Vinny was bought out because he was given a horrendous contract so he handcuffed the team from ushering in a new era (Stamkos and Hedman). Also, a big trade is FAR different from a monumental trade. Of all the guys who were drafted and were the faces of their franchise over the last 20 years, very few of them have been traded. I understand Vasilevskiy being a possibility because he's a goalie and they have a much shorter leash, but his decline is WELL down the road so consideration of that is closer to 5 years out. Stamkos and Hedman are different because they will be too old when their next contracts are up. They'll take discounts for term to stay and retire here and I really believe that. Unless injuries seriously impede their ability, they will still be very important pieces for the team in the next 4-5+ years. Their leadership and familiarity with the group provides irreplaceable value IMO.

Totally fair points. To be candid, I would be absolutely shocked if anything close to this happened. lol. I just felt like having a little fun and doing something aggressive.
