As a Leafs fan I would be happy with the Ottawa 2nd. Most Chicago fans want to do the Tampa one though. Chicago 2nd and Boston 1st are too close together.

Ill take it though.

I agree they should look at weaponizing their cap for next year.

Don't mind your moves at all. I would try to change the Van trade with Myers and Boeser and no picks coming back to us. Mon can keep Hoffman. The rest i would roll with, maybe id play hardball with the leafs trying to give them tb or sens pick before the hawks pick in the 2nd.

Can't see the Hawks making any of these trades.

In the Toronto trade, the difference in those 2 picks is 7 spots. That's not nearly enough for the Hawks to take on a G they don't really need who gets paid $6m in actual salary next season. Leafs get the Rangers '23 2nd at best from Hawks in that deal or Hawks pass.

In the Myers deal, Hawks move up 15 or 20 spots in the 3rd round for taking on Myers $6m salary. Not worth it for a player Hawks don't need.

The Montreal deal is close, but Hoffman is another guy who makes more annual salary than his cap hit. A 3rd isn't worth paying a guy as limited as Hoffman is $5m next season.

Bailey costs a 2nd to dump. Isles get back future considerations. Hawks keep their 4th.

Habs pass. Hoffman's buyout numbers are low enough that they would rather buy him out than paying to ship him somewhere. And while I can appreciate the addition of a RHD, Mitchell is probably not an upgrade over the ones we have on the roster right now. Habs are indeed looking for a RHD in my opinion...but one that would be above Barron on our depth chart.

Is Hoffman a bum? Yes. But I wouldn’t package him with picks just to dump him. He only has 1 year left.

Plus, we’re not going to be good next year either.

Our Tank Commander will be very valuable for a good top 10 pick in 2024

Agree....this Boston first for the 3rd pick in the 2nd is not happening. Ottawa 2nd is at least a rational ask that has even a remote possibility of happening. I think the Hawks counter with a 3rd going back and would settle for Tampa or NYR pick in the end. Hawks could buyout Mrazek pretty cheap but would be just as well off keeping both and rotating one of the kids when one of Murray or Mrazek are hurt which is likely to be one almost all the time.

The Myers trade can be simplified to remove all the picks and just throw in a 3rd with Myers after his Summer bonus gets paid and the Hawks are buying a mid round pick for a million real dollars and and a big chunk of cap that don't really matter as the Hawks should be no where near the cap max) and the hope of flipping for additional pick at the deadline with retension.
