Actually that was never the rumor, the rumor was that Montreal tried for PLD before moving on to Dach and the Jets were asking for something Hughes wanted no part in parting with, so Montreal walked away. Speculation was the Jets wanted Suzuki+, PLD and Dach were never discussed as an exchange

Dubois isn't 100% going to go to MTL anyway with gives the Jets leverage:

Here's where I heard the name Dach for PLD:

I saw that as well but that was just speculation on what could be the ask. Really anything could be the ask the question is though does it make sense to do it, IMO moving Dach for PLD doesn't make much sense given term, age and skill level. Dach is signed to a team friendly deal PLD will be looking for max term/cap hit. Dach is a couple years younger and the difference in their skill level is not that much, Dach has the skill and vision to be the 60-80 point player that PLD already is, so why make a lateral move for a more expensive contract?!

Fair, IMO, Dubois to MTL via trade won't work but I do see him being traded as a rental
