CHI doesn't need a goalie, and they certainly wouldn't be paying a 3rd for Allen if they did. Not to mention he is a UFA after the season ends. So they could just sign him without spending anything if they wanted him.

I really like Nylander and he gets a bad rap in Toronto. He's more consistent than Matthews & Marner in the playoffs. He's not the problem, the problem is that AM & MM play a regular season game in the playoffs and the rules are different. They are so skilled that it's skill all the time, but sometimes you need to dump, chase and retrieve.

I feel bad for Toronto... But they have 1 more year and to be honest since everyone is UFA they will have no luck getting value for their forwards (Nylander & Matthews) anyway without a sign & trade scenario.

Chicago does need a goalie (even if it is not Allen) and Allen is signed until the end of the 2024-25 season, so he has 2 more years on his contract.

Chicago doesn’t need to spend draft capital on a goalie, they can bargain hunt ufas or waiver wires and draft and develop if they don’t find one sooner, goalie is only going to mess with draft spot next year.

I imagine the Hawks feel pretty good about where they’re at in goal right now. Mrazek as the tank commander for one more year, Soderblom splits starts in the big leagues, and Commesso developing in the minors. Don’t think they’d want add there, especially not for two more years. May end up blocking someone’s development.

FYI. Allen already has an extension. He's not a UFA, his current contract is just ending.

Oh. Fair enough. Still not worth a 3rd. But good to know. I didn't even care enough to check, initially. haha. My bad.

If we moved him it would only be to open a spot for Primeau.
Allen's a good vet backup. A 3rd is reasonable if you need someone and Montreal wouldn't be opposed to taking Mrazek back.
As mentioned, he's not the only choice, but it's one option.

CHI could roll with Mrazek and Soderblom next season just fine, likely rotating in Stauber a bit and even giving Commesso a few looks. If they do bring in another goaltender, it will just be a body to hold things down when there are injuries or what have you, which will most likely be a cap dump or an older cheap UFA looking for work, like maybe bringing Stalock back. They aren't going to spend on goaltending, and they aren't looking for their "next starter" before they have even seen and tested what they already have in their pipeline. A goalie will be the final piece of the puzzle if what we already have doesn't work out.

Hawks have 4 goalies signed for next season. It'll be Mrazek and Soderblom in Chicago and Commesso and Stauber in Rockford. And they have Bassie playing great at St Cloud State who needs an ELC next summer. We're good...

We aren't looking to move Mrazek. A 3rd isn't reasonable for Allen because he just isn't worth that much, at that cap hit/salary and clause, I would be hard pressed to assign any sort of positive value to him... At least from CHI's persepective. This would be like the last possible option. We could get goaltending without spending draft capital. So, once again, we don't NEED goaltending. "Need" being the key word here. Meaning we don't need to spend for it. There are always guys looking for a contract. We could even just bring Stalock back again, if we need someone.

and nylander contract is not the problem... who gets traded is who doesnt want to sign an extension right... So if matthews wants to head south you trade him and then you need to keep nylander.. Personally matthews at 11.6 mil is the problem as he is just not a playoff stud. You wont get top return for Tavares and i think you need marner more than matthews... Re-sign o reilly to a 3 year fair deal and then move matthews to ari for their 2 top picks plus that young goalie of theirs.. You replenish your prospects in a great draft.. Remember that matthew is owed less dollars that his hit... of course if you can wait till after his no trade kicks in and pay his bonus arizona would like him more
